| O my goodness Larner, that ham DOES sound good...the only thing I'm missing from it would be pineapple to go with the cherries...but I imagine pineapple wouldn't have been readily available in the Shire! Still, I'm getting hungrier and hungrier...I wonder what today's chapter will bring! Author Reply: I know--I, too, would want the pineapple rings to go on my ham! But as that probably didn't grow either in Eriador or Gondor I doubt it would be easily otained by the Hobbits of the Shire, even in trade with the Dwarves from Erebor! But they'd do what they could with what they had, I'm certain. And today's chapter is now up! | |

| Das Auge isst mit, as the Germans would say, right? ;)) Author Reply: Si dices, amiga mia! No hablo aleman muy bueno. Although I did pick up a copy of The Hobbit in German when we were visiting the Blindenstudienanstalt in Marburg in 1984. But I studied Spanish, not German. I was pleased at how well I could communicate when I visited Costa Rica in 1997, although I'm anything but fluent, I fear. I also have The Hobbit in espanol as well as in Deutsch. And I've read it in Spanish, while I've barely gotten through chapter three in German. I'm sure Bilbo and Frodo's ham pleased everyone! | |
