I lost count of how many times I laughed aloud in the reading. Genius! Pippin as Designated Driver! LOLOLOL How I love these hobbity conversations and asides and wanderings and ponderings. (And I have to agree with Merry and Frodo... remembering that excruciatingly long chase and mine cart ride through the goblins' underground caverns, it all too closely resembled a video game; at least that's my impression from my recollection of watching it in a theatre.) At some point, (perhaps it was the mention of Bored), I was reminded of the Harvard Lampoon's Bored of the Rings, which I actually found much more readable than LOTR as a youngster. At least, I read all the way through that slim volume well before I was able to read LOTR to its end. I started Fellowship three times, if I'm remembering right, only to be defeated by the Party chapter, which went on and on and on... so boring, I thought. It was only the fourth (?) reading attempt, when I skipped the Party chapter altogether, skimmed through "The Shadow of the Past", and got into "Three's Company" that the plot picked up steam. By the time we reached Weathertop, I was hooked. (Of course, since then, I have thoroughly read the entire work, including the Prologue and Appendices, multiple times and, eventually, purchased the twelve-book set, along with many supplemental works.) If you should ever run across this review, I hope this finds you well. (((hugs)))

How I love a clever Prologue. (I miss your writing, but I understand from personal experience how whimsical - or do I mean capricious? - the bunnies can be. Now that I have time for reading again, I'm revisiting old favourites and discovering new ones. Is there any chance you might republish the Yuletide stories to make them permanently available? Or did you, already? I will have to look.) I don't know if or when you will see this, but I'm sending warm thoughts in your direction all the same.

I know you probably won't see this, but just in case, I want you to know how much I enjoyed it. When I realized what you were doing, I laughed out loud, and I didn't stop giggling until the end. (Even though I agree with Merry's view.) I know you've moved on, but you should know your stories are still bringing joy to others. Namarie, and God bless you. Author Reply: Ok, I wasn’t expecting to find a review here. Thank you so much! I know you left this a year ago so I’m sorry for the very slow response. Still, if you are out there checking your emails I hope you know that your review brightened my day.

O.M.G!!! I just happened to check your page and saw that you wrote another story!! I thought you stopped writing! I can't begin to tell you how thrilled I am that you are still writing! I hope and pray that there is more to come. You are truly gifted and I could read your Hobbit stories forever! :) Author Reply: Thank you so much! I appreciate your comments and I am so sorry for not responding sooner. I had an email problem and somehow failed to get any notifications. It wasn't anything on SOA's part, just my silly email but it gas been corrected now and so I wanted to tell you how happy your review made me. I don't write often anymore as the plot bunnies all seem to have hopped away to greener gardens, but it is very nice to be missed. Thank you taking the time to review and again, my apologies for this late response. People who review deserve better.

What a great little story! Loved Pippin's perspective of counting the drinks and Merry's upset over the book being changed. I am most definitely sided with Merry on this one; but great to get the other perspectives. “If you ask me, they should never had been allowed in the same room,” Merry said showing his distaste. :D I just love your Merry! Oblib's name through me for a bit before I realized that it was Bilbo backwards. Nice job with the names, gave me quite the laugh! And Sam was perfect, just perfect. =) It's great to see you back. I have been a fan of your stories since I found them last year. You have a great ear for dialog and humor. Author Reply: Thank you so much for this lovely review. Usually I respond much quicker to the nice people who take time to comment but I had email issues and did not get any of my notifications for a while. So sorry that I didn't respond sooner. I'm very pleased that enjoy my version of Merry. Somehow when I write it is usually his voice that I hear strongest. Thank you again for your kind words and for reviewing. If I have failed to respond to other comments you have left, my sincere apologies. I think people who review deserve a response. Thank you for taking the time to comment.
