This was just as good the second time around. Just love this conversation, and the hobbit to which this particular ‘phial’ will go …

Author Reply: Reviewing twice is a lovely compliment to an author, thank you! :)

“And so we offer the most enduring qualities of Arda to anchor two hobbits on their journey – starlight and water for Frodo, and earth and that which is nurtured within it for Samwise.”
beautiful line! so wisely said and so true!!

Author Reply: Thank you, my friend! Nothing but the best for our hobbitses!

How I love this scene, especially what it shows of Celeborn, of whom we have received only a tantalizing glimpse and who is seldom seen in fanfic expansions on the original concept. I love his foresight and wisdom, and Galadriel's defiance (so believable, considering her history), and the "fragile hope".

Lovely.

Author Reply: Oh, thank you. We really know so little about Celeborn, who must have been a very strong and wise person and leader.

Both a light in dark places, one to cleave Mordor’s dark and poisoned air, the other to take root in the Shire’s rich soil.

Beautiful story! I especially like it, that this time there are two quotes, one at the beginning and one at the end, which make this story a perfect gap filler.

Author Reply: Thank you so much, Andrea. Sometimes one quote just isn't enough! Your enthusiasm and support are always greatly appreciated. :)

Oh, sweetie, this is beautiful! I always thought that was a part of the idea behind Galadriel's gift, and I love the way you explained it. And I especially love that it was Celeborn's idea. He gets so little credit in most fanfic. But he had to have been a truly exceptional Elf to be a match for Lady Galadriel!

Author Reply: He *had* to have been! It's been awhile since I wrote about Celeborn, and this was a fun idea to ponder. I'm so happy you liked it. *beams*

I love the title of this and the reasoning behind it. What a cool gift. If I could also please ask your prayers for my uncle who is having serious back surgery on Wednesday. Le hannon for that and this neat story!

Namarie, God bless and hobbity hugs, Antane :)

Author Reply: My most health- and Light-filled wishes for your uncle, Antane. The family must be so worried. *and extra hugs for you*

Thank you for your enthusiasm and support for my hobbity tales, my friend.

What a beautiful story! :) I particularly like three things about it: 1) The fact that Celeborn has a lot of dialogue and sounds like a wise Elf-lord (need I say anything about Peter Jackson's portrayal of poor Celeborn?); 2) The prose, which seems to be consistently excellent in your stories; and 3) the parallels you drew, if I may quote them:

'Such different gifts for the Ring-bearer and his servant, and yet, at their heart, they were the same. Both a light in dark places, one to cleave Mordor’s dark and poisoned air, the other to take root in the Shire’s rich soil.'

And:

'“Perhaps,” Celeborn said softly. “And so we offer the most enduring qualities of Arda to anchor two hobbits on their journey – starlight and water for Frodo, and earth and that which is nurtured within it for Samwise.”'

Very well-done, as always!

Author Reply: Thank you for your lovely comments. Oh yes, poor movie-Celeborn! One scarcely noticed him, but the Professor obviously envisioned him as an Elf of wisdom and importance, not to mention Galadriel's steadfast and loving companion over the many millenia of a changing world. It's been many years (since "Mind to Mind") since I brought him fully into a story, and need to do so again sometime. I greatly appreciate your review, and the passages you quoted.

How profoundly beautiful.

You've captured the love and respect Celeborn and Galadriel hold for each other perfectly. lol, the remind me of the "old married" couple who seem to know each others thoughts.

I loved this brief interlude

Author Reply: Oh, thank you! Celeborn and Galadriel had a great deal of time to contemplate what might be coming, and how best to meet it. I think the coming of the hobbits to Lorien, and what possibilities they represented, might have given them much to think about. I just love seeing the hobbits through the eyes of the Wise, and finding wee gaps to fill in our beloved tale.
