Oh my word, Kaylee! How delightful! I can just see young Bilbo as a curious lad interrupting his Papa with all those questions. Of course, the Tip and Tulip stories were ubiquitous, and last names were never mentioned in the stories themselves--but I am sure that for every little Baggins who asked and was told "Baggins" there were Bolgers or Tooks or little Gamgees who found out that maybe Tip and Tulip were kin to them as well! This was so fun to read, and I also adored the allusion at the end to "The Family Way". Thank you! I guess I hadn't seen it because I've still been recuperating, but I discovered it at just the right time for it to be a birthday mathom--on the day *before* my birthday! (((hugs and hugs)))) Author Reply: *grins* oh, thank you Dreamflower! I'm so very glad you enjoyed this! Exactly - I think every family had their own "Tip and Tulip" story, told in their own way, and they could be Bolgers or Tooks or Gamgees who asked and maybe Tip and Tulip could be kin to them! Hee :) I'm definitely glad you liked that allusion! I love "The Family Way" so very much and it gave me such a clear image of Bungo and Belladonna, as well as their families' first connexion! *hugs and hugs* Happy Birthday, dearest Dreamflower! I hope you're recovering well and will be all better very soon! | |

I remember the Tip and Tulip tales, and this is a delightful addition. Bilbo's parents try to teach lessons through their stories, but dear Bilbo's imagination is already running to wizards and dragons. Author Reply: Oh yes, well he is quite Tookish, for all he's a Baggins! It seems Aunt Pansy put Bilbo up to trying to be "proper". Of course eventually he'll be more settled - after the events of that horrible winter, who can blame him - but I wanted to show a time when his Tookishness was still quite evident!
