Spring Awakenings  by daw the minstrel 22 Review(s)

I can't believe how dense Anyr can be - in a time of famine, not thinking that someone may steal the food! I wish something would jolt him out of his complacency. But I'm glad that it doesn't seem to be thieves from the Mannish village.

Tinar was being Tinar, as usual - and it was great to see Legolas pull rank, just this once, and set him right. I think Tinar got a shock.

Your description of the flood was good - I was caught in a flood once, and the force of the water made impossible to stand although it was only about two feet deep. Scary. I can't help remembering the tree storing food that was brought down in the last flood - I hope it won't happen again!

Author Reply: As I read your review, I was suddenly struck by an idea for what the settlers really need. Thanks, Jay!

I also enjoyed seeing Legolas light into Tinar. He's great when he takes charge. He should do it more often.

I've never been in a flood. I originally had the water rising higher on Tuilinn and Legolas, but it sounds as if that would be unrealistic, so I'm glad that Nilmandra advised me to make it lower. They're elves, it's true, but they still have limitations.

Poor Legolas! He is going to need a vacation from his vacation. Then again, if he must be stuck up on a flet in a flood, at least the company is good (he could be stuck with Tinar, after all). He certainly does have an impressive Ithilden-moment with that irritating elf. And I had to laugh at Annael's reaction to Legolas' expanded vocabulary. Somehow, I doubt such a word is in regular use in Annael's household.

Author Reply: I try to imagine being stuck on a flet with Tinar and seven small children. Not a pretty picture!

I love commanding, masterful Legolas. He appears so seldom, but he's great when he does. And I suspect you are right about Annael's household, although maybe he lets his hair down more among warriors.
