Why thank you so much for the mention of "Thinking of You" and for another wonderful chapter. For a minute there, I thought Merry and Pip might get shot with that arrow, but I was relieved to see that didn't happen. Your Merry is doing a wonderful job of helping Pippin recover. I laughed during the barn and cow scene, but until I read your kind acknowledgement at the end of the chapter, I didn't see the connection. Seems no matter what Merry plays with, he has an order for it. I also liked how Pippin thought about the ball and then Merry began to play with it. It shows the deep connection between the two of them very well. I look forward to more.

Author Reply: Thank you. That was the point of the ball -- to show that deep connection.

Leave it to Merry to find a way with Pippin.

{Pimpernel rose from her own chair to stand next to her mother and drew her long braid streaked with sand- and tea-colored curls over her shoulder.}

I loved that discription. You have a wonderful style and this is a very good story. I am wondering about something that happened in an earlier chapter though, regarding Fern, whom I found very enjoyable by the way. She is a nice OC with her own thoughts and concerns. Very likeable, but this line from chapter 2, { Fern used the fine fabric to muffle the cough that had finally escaped.} I was wondering if her actions had anything to do with current events? I know Pippin was ill before that but he did seem to be getting better. I will be looking forward to more of this story.

Author Reply: Thank you! That description came about because my sister always hated it when people called that hair color "dishwater blond." I had to think of something else in case she ever reads this.;)
Glad you liked Fern, too. You are a discerning reader. (She started out as a plot device and then gave herself a character--*I* certainly wasn't the one planning to write all her interior monologue in dialect.) You are correct that Pippin had been ill but was getting better when his mother had him in the garden, but he had not yet recovered his full strength, so it was easy for him to get very badly sick again when exposed to Fern's germs through the blanket.
(BTW, (F)ern and her brother 'Bert are an homage to another great fictional duo who are in some ways reminiscent of Merry and Pip.)

Really, good seems pip is coming around slowly,at least he is understanding.
Is perry a nick name or something merry gave him or something.
Love the story,it good.
Keep up the good work...

Author Reply: Perry is the nickname Merry *tried* to give his cousin when he was a baby. It's short for Peregrin, and in Merry's mind, it was only logical to call him Perry -- especially since it made it sound like he was named after Merry. (Merry is a hobbit with a lot of, um, "self-confidence.") The adults in this story, however, wouldn't let Merry actually name the baby.

Really love this story, are you going to continue it...
Pippin is so sick, I wonder what is wrong with him....

Author Reply: Thanks! And I love you for saying you love it.
Yes, the story continues for several more chapters.
Like his mother said, Pippin isn't sick, exactly, anymore, but he's not well either, and it's going to take him a while to get better.

Please write more soon. I want to know what's going to happen.

Author Reply: Well...OK. ;) Look for an update in the next day or so. And a bouquet of tulips (my favorite spring flower) to you for being my first reviewer!
