LOL. If you play with fire, you have to expect to get burned! I've always thought Khuzdul would be a good language for cursing. The dwarves are nicely earthy and probably have words for many things. Author Reply: You would think the twins would have learned that by now! But they - Elladan particularly, I think - still have a rather hopeful view of life. They lost it for a good while, but it's a natural part of their nature. He would hate to be told that he is not suspicious enough, though. Khuzdul would, I think, sound great for cussing. Even 'you are my heart' probably sounds aggressive. And they are earthy. And practical. And enjoy being underestimated.

That was perfect, Bodkin, and so in character for dwarves. Thank you. Your chapter was just the thing to brighten up a day when a computer problem had destroyed five hours of my work. Author Reply: Thank you. This was one that made my toes curl in delight - it does feel like something dwarves would do. And I can imagine them listening to Elladan's language skills with totally straight faces as they relished his words! A computer problem destroyed a day's work - that is just so awful. Real banging your head against a wall stuff. Fingers crossed you can recover it.

Now that brightened up a foggy spring morning. I will face the rest of the day with a smile on my dial, and be thinking of some of the other phrases he has no doubt been spouting for my infantile amusement when I should be plotting the rest of my writing. LOL Thanks Bod Rose Author Reply: Thank you. I'm glad to make you smile - and would love to know any other phrases you come up with that he might have been spouting over the centuries! I think the dwarves would get a lot of pleasure in hearing Elladan use his phrases of Khuzdul, too. And keep their faces totally straight as they listened. (But don't let the thoughts come between you and your plotting!)
