Baggins!  by Grey Wonderer 112 Review(s)
AndreaReviewed Chapter: 11 on 9/22/2008
If adventures did seek him out then he would walk the other way and ignore them. There were plenty of Tooks in the Shire that would love to go adventuring. Let adventure find them and leave him alone.

LOL!!! So much for the theory, ...

I love your characterisation of Belladonna. She thinks before she speaks, but her thoughts are still very Tookish ;-)

Author Reply: I decided to set her apart a bit from the other Tooks if only in the way she speaks. I have always suspected that Belladonna would have stood out in any crowd.

And poor Bilbo, like so many of us, was completely wrong about how his life would turn out. LOL

Thank you for reading!

Oh my word! This is wonderful! I love Merry's interjections and his rather lieral take on the "I can't thank you enough" phrase, LOL!

What a wonderful birthday mathom!

Author Reply: I suspect that Merry was very out-spoken in his defense of Frodo even then. LOL
If he thought for one minute that Bilbo wasn't going to thank Frodo then Merry would step in and speak up.
Glad you enjoyed it and thank you for reading!

Oh, how I love your wise and intelligent Belladonna! Of course, she knew that Tookishness was there, just under the surface, just waiting for the right time!

*grin* I love Bilbo fics! This was perfect!

Author Reply: Glad you enjoyed Belladonna. I don't think I've ever tried to write her before so this was a first. It's fun trying to imagine what she might have been like.

And I just had to give Bilbo a tiny coming of age fiction. He's a very special hobbit and this is his special day!

“My entire life has been an adventure, darling Bilbo,” Belladonna Took Baggins laughed. “Every minute of it."

What a wise and happy hobbit she must have been!

Author Reply: I think that both of Bilbo's parents had to be special. Glad you agree! Happy 22nd.

This is a lovely birthday, and perfect gifts! Little Merry is a delight. :)

Author Reply: Thank you! I just could see Merry helping with the gifts. Glad you enjoyed it!

Oh, but why not sneak off together--it's not like they hadn't done it before! heh!

Author Reply: I know! I had to check Frodo's age in the punchbowl story just to make certain that I wasn't writing a second fiction for the same birthday! LOL

Oh, happy birthday, Bilbo and Frodo! What a wonderful series of adventures they've given us!

Author Reply: They have at that! I am very grateful to Tolkien for giving us hobbits.

Ah, yes--I remember this one, with all the animals coming in for a visit! Heh!

Author Reply: So you have read one or two of these before! Thanks for stopping back by.

I know I didn't read this one before--oh, it is SO priceless! One in the morning, and they woke him up AND poured a bucket of water on him! And then locked themselves in Frodo's room while he cleans up! Oh, he so deserved it, and particularly after first denying there WAS a bucket and then telling Frodo to get on with it!

This is wonderful, GW! Just wonderful!

Author Reply: I liked the idea that Frodo would plan this out and wait until Pippin was old enough so that revenge could be taken without this looking like the 'much older cousin picking on a mere child'. Revenge is a dish best served cold as the Klingons say. And this was some very cold water!

Now, this one I don't remember! Ah, but it was satisfying! I often take books to the bath with me--a wonderful way to soak and enjoy myself! Poor Frodo--now he has to find another copy just to finish the story! I don't blame Bilbo, but neither do I blame Frodo aa single bit.

Author Reply: This one was part of one of Marigold's Challenges. Earth, Water, Fire, and Wind. Frodo got the water part. Since each was a small little story unto itself, I split this part off and put it here.
I've read in the bath many times so this one is from experience in a way. LOL
