| You can tell so much that the epic was Of Its Time in this - Legolas and Boromir appear the odd ones for not puffing endlessly on the old pipeweed, whereas now they could invoke all kinds of laws on passive smoking. I love the image of all the weed-deprived members of the party snarling at each other - and at L and B particularly for not feeling the effects. Seriously entertaining image of L and B standing to one side feeling slightly smug - and also actually of them joined in something against the rest. Not one of the more usual parnerships. Author Reply: *Giggle* I could just see the lawsuits now: "Famed Wizard and Companions Implicated in Second-hand Smoke Suit by Former Friends" It definitely gives them something in common, doesn't it? Can't you just see them giving one another Looks every time one of their companions gets a bit snappish? I first got the plot bunny for this when I was doing the CotW summary for "Flotsam and Jetsam" and noticed how as soon as Merry and Pippin had provided everyone with pipe-weed, Legolas suddenly got the urge for fresh air. | Ha! Laughed and laughed at this. Ah, poor Boromir and Legolas. Putting up with the smell of the stuff is bad enough, but then to have to deal with the tempers when they run out... there should be an extra medal for those two. Thank you for a nice lift to my day. And that's a clever title, too. Author Reply: Boromir and Legolas were definitely outnumbered in the Fellowship by smokers. But at least it gave them something in common. I can see them sticking together for a few days, kind of keeping a low profile and rolling their eyes at one another when the tempers flare. I'm glad it brightened your day. And you are the only one so far who's picked up on the title, *grin*! | |
