Rhapsody's ramblings  by Rhapsody 43 Review(s)

Love it is that makes a home, even when those who share it are forced from what had been their abode.

Author Reply: I find their friendship very intriguing, it must have been a very intimate one to follow a childhood friend across the grinding ice. But then Aredhel always had a strong will andopinion of her own. This is what I like so much about the Silmarillion: it has such a rich tapestry of characters to explore!

Maeglin appears to have been conceived to know the bitterness of being bettered by others, to see what he himself desired taken by one he sees as lesser....

Author Reply: Oh yes! I recently read a story written by Ecthelion, The breach in the walls, with explores this same bitterness, only here it is truly too late and beyond redemption. Besides Túrin, I think Maeglin is one of these characters who had a lot of options in his life and could have gone many directions (not oath bound as the Fëanorians), but instead... Thanks for the review(s)! They are so wonderful and encouraging!

Aragorn Elessar Envinatar Telcontar has come at last, and much is redone.

Author Reply: Oh yes, and one of the most important turning point in Lord of the Rings. If Aragorn had failed, Imrahil had been responsible for healing a lot of hurts and keeping everything together.

It was a great grief, after all, to lose so much.

Author Reply: Oh yes, I was reading the Lays of Beleriand the other day and it is so sad to think that Tolkien kept him wandering along the shores for the rest of his life. The laste exile, now there is a bunny to write!

Elves and Men appear to have been all too fit for warfare.

Author Reply: I think with all the grieveances done to their houses, they had no other option to keep on fighting Morgoth untill the bitter end. The Nirnaeth is the battle I 'like' the most because if things could have turned differently, they might never have needed the Valar to intervene...

Yes, it was the lead of such as she and later Arwen who taught those flowers to grow within Middle Earth.

Author Reply: It's a lovely thought that such a thing was passed onto the generations don't you think? So many parallels!

Oh, dealing with a librarian, is he? Heh!

Author Reply: Hehehe yes, when I drabbled it I had reference desk duty and I just happened to have a patron like that...

A fitting introduction.

Author Reply: Thank you :) Just a take of mine, I mean it could have happened very differently!

Yes, I can imagine Hamfast worrying about his Master. And he would certainly have been awed by all those Dwarves--and a wizard as well!

Author Reply: I recently read that part of the Hobbit and I was amazed by all the colours and different voices every Dwarf has in that book, so I am happy to read that I captured Gaffer's impression very well! Thank you so much for this wonderful review!!

I adore this! I love seeing the Gaffer meet up with the dwarves. Now he has his own story to tell Sam later on.

Author Reply: Oh! *blinks* A review from you! Wow. I am a big fan of your stories, so wow! I always wondered why Sam had this fascination for elves alone, he never asked about Dwarves on his journey to Rivendell and as far as I can recall he reacted normal to Gimli (I might be mistaken though), so yes. With this in mind I thought how nice it would be that Gaffer would have met the Dwarves before Bilbo left on his adventure and would tell of Dwarves to his children, leaving the mystery of elves in the open for Sam. Now I am wondering if I am making sense.

But thank you so much for reviewing my little drabble: I feel deeply honoured.
