Time's Turnings  by daw the minstrel 31 Review(s)

Another wonderful story, Daw!

There was much to smile about in this chapter, but there was also quite a bit of underlying sadness. I suppose it's all to do with letting go for everybody here, or at least how much to let go. Hindsight is always 20-20, but at the time when the decision is made, it's almost like groping in the dark so I do feel for everybody here, especially Ithilden.

So Gewiel does not live just to mend Tinar's leggings. I wonder how she keeps her sanity in that household, with Tinar as a husband and Tinar's mother breathing down her neck. I don't supposed she's considered building herself a separate flet or cottage as Eilian has suggested to Galelas. Poor Galelas. Gewiel chose to marry Tinar but Galelas didn't have much choice in being stuck in such a family. I am glad Eilian has taken him under his wings.

So Beliond is sharing his talent of picking locks with Legolas? Thranduil will find out anyway, but will he approve? Really like that bantering between Legolas and Beliond. I think they've come to a new turn in their relationship which will make life much easier for both of them.

Thank you for this wonderful story. I just hope you have another one in the planning.

Author Reply: Thank you, Manderly. I feel sorry for Ithilden too, treating his sullen child so carefully. Sinnarn really is still a child and you can see it in his self-centeredness. But fortunately he grows out of it. :-)

Gewiel is pretty bad tempered but if I were married to Tinar I think I'd be nasty too. One of my secret vices is watching this TV show called "The Amazing Race." Pairs of people who already know one another race around the world in a sleep deprived and very stressful situation with a camera on them all the time. If someone filmed my husband and me like that, they'd get some very unpleasant footage I'm sure. Sigh.

I think Legolas and Beliond are working things out. They seem a little easier in the story that's chronologically next, "Fire and Shadow," although I don't think Beliond ever lets up completely. He can't really.

I'm glad you liked it. I've promised myself I won't start another story until I finish something I have to write for work. I don't know how long that will take. The possibility of starting another story should spur me along.
