Voices of Middle-Earth  by Armariel 170 Review(s)

Now, that is right between erotic and esoteric! Very interesting imagery there.

Author Reply: Could you tell I'd been reading Neruda? "Right between erotic and esoteric" describes his love poetry perfectly. I was making a wallpaper and wanted a poem for it, or some lines from one, but I wished for one by a female poet this time, and was puzzling over where to find an appropriate one. Then I said to myself, "Well, YOU'RE a female poet, aren't you? Write one yourself!" So I did! lol

This is beautiful. Amazingly concise yet full of emotion. Wonderful!!

Author Reply: Coming from one who writes Pippin so beautifully, that is great praise. Thanks millions!

Man, where do you come up with such beautiful things? Poetry came much easier to me when I was a Star Wars fanatic but it doesn't now. What a loving tribute not only to Gandalf and his gifts but one of the greatest gifts Iluvatar bestowed upon Bilbo and all Middle-earth.

Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author Reply: Doesn't come easy to me, Dearie;) and I think I got the idea of this one from you, at least indirectly, when I teased you about having something about Gandalf's fireworks in your story...then I thought, well, why don't I write a piece about the fireworks--so there you have it! lol I was also thinking about Sam's remark that there should have been a verse about the fireworks in the Elves' lament, and he came up with one himself which wasn't very good and he knew it...and so I thought to make one also. Glad it ended up being a halfway decent effort! And I bet you can make nice poetry, it just takes practice, lots of it, and a lot of reading of good poetry and some study of the mechanics. C'mon, you can do it;);)

I've been meaning to review this for ages. It is one of the most beautiful poems I've ever read and expresses the sentiment perfectly. How wonderful that Sam can sometimes 'visit' Frodo - truly a gift from the Valar I think.

Now I must ask you something. I have a story (half-written) which was inspired by this story, but obviously I ask your permission before posting. It sprang into my head the first time I read this poem and would not let go.

Author Reply: Ooo wow, thanks! I always had a problem with those two not having any communication whatsoever and just had to come up with a way...perhaps Irmo Lord of Dreams might have had a hand in arranging occasional "visits" for them, although I felt that such could have its risks as well, rather like too many sleeping pills or pick-me-ups, they could get addictive and should be used very sparingly and only at need.

Please do post your story, I would love to see it. And if it wouldn't let go, then most likely it was meant to be. I'm flattered to be the inspiration!

Thanks once more!

Last year it was Bodkin who made my day with Frodo represented by a great firework; this year it's you.

Thank you for this tribute to our Fourth and Bilbo and Frodo's glorious legacy of transient yet lasting beauty.

Author Reply: Why, you are most welcome, and thank YOU for the comments! I don't remember ever reading such a thing by Bodkin, but I would like very much to see it. (Bodkin does write beautifully!) I liked the idea of someone's inner magic being symbolized by the exuberant liberation of flaming colors and shapes across the night sky that fill viewers with childlike delight. Just wish I'd come up with it sooner, but promptness has never been any longsuit of mine, unfortunately..........

Thanks once more!

An interesting juxtaposition of two of Bilbo's loves. I know I can never get enough of either one of them!

In line 6, did you want "candies" or "candles"?

Author Reply: Yes, that's "candies"...although I suppose "candles" could work also. I thought "sky candy" or "eye candy" in terms of fireworks, along with the "toys of flame" that delight both children and adults.

I think I can't get enough either!:D Thanks for commenting.

YES! Yes! Sam and Frodo reunited, and both fulfilled, the time of waiting now seen only as that moment of anticipation before the eternal hug of welcome!

A loving reunion anticipated. Sam has written about his treasure, now you'll need to write about Frodo anticipating his. :) Love the idea of the treasure chest of memories and knocking each other over in their joy, hearts bumping into each other and the ending. Of course there would be no hesitation there or lack of recognition. How can you not recognize your heart and soul as it runs to you and you to it? Have you read Hope by Trilliah? It's much like this.

Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author Reply: Thanks for the idea;) although I dare say Frodo would have said pretty much the same things...perhaps in more sophisticated diction, since in my universe he is a poet. I may have read Hope by Trilliah--title or name seems familiar--but don't remember. I've read scadoodles of stories and poems on the subjecto f the Reunion, and will probably eventually write my own....and you KNOW my take on it will be vastly different from the others;)

This one was really for you, y'know:D Probably should have said so but what the heck.
