A Matter of Honor  by meckinock 21 Review(s)

There is just something so right about Halbarad taking his muddy, bloody, soaking wet wife and making love to her under some tree, while his cranky mother sits in the house and grouses. ROFLOL! The contrast between the Dunedain settlement and Rivendell was really well done - the differences in mortal and elf look rather stark right now.

It must be very frustrating for them to be putting so much of the guard on the Shire when their own needs are great... and now they are sending boys out on patrol. Halbarad understands much, but not enough. And if he thinks Meneliel can hold her own with Elrond... well clearly its because he doesn't realize who controls the Bruinen!

Author Reply: LOL. Would you expect anything else from my Halbarad than a roll in the mud with his favorite girl?

Whenever I sit down to calculate the number of Rangers they really had around the time of the Ring War stop me before I spend three pages citing methodology I end up concluding they didn't have very darned many. It would have been hard to accept devoting a good deal of their manpower in what, to their mind, was the least critical location. Halbarad gave up wanting to understand it, but being Management, he still has to sell it to the troops.

Halbarad has only seen the nice side of Elrond :-)
