Of Falcons and Mūmakil  by Lialathuveril 160 Review(s)

I can't choose my favorite among your and Lady Bluejay's so I decided to review all of them. For this one, the title was most arresting. I like all of Lothy's brothers and appreciate the different personalities you give them in your different stories. I don't like Elphir very much here, he reminds me of Percy Weasley.

Author Reply: Hello Whitewave,
wow! My eyes nearly popped this morning when I saw all the reviews you'd left me. Thank you very much! This is the first story I ever wrote - I can't remember where I got the idea for the title, I think my subconscious just came up with it and I liked it. And poor Elphir got such a sad role in this one that I decided to make him nice in the next one. He provides a nice bit of entertainment, though.

I read this after I found your current story, and I loved it as well. Elphir made me want to slap him, and Imrahil had his moments too. I laughed out loud when Lothiriel shot an arrow into the roof of Meduseld. Wonderful!

Author Reply: Hello Ponypetter,
Well, Elphir certainly made himself rather unpopular in this story. At the end I felt so sorry for him that I made him more likeable in my current one - although I did saddle him with an awful wife.

And Eomer has acquired a much more relaxed attitude towards Lothiriel's archery skills now, hasn't he. Maybe it's because she now wins tankards of ale FOR him, rather than FROM him ;-)

Glad to hear you enjoyed it!

I happened onto this story from an LJ Fic Recs community. I absolutely loved this story. You did a wonderful job making the characters and situations believable. Thank you for writing and sharing your work. This story was a wonderful diversion for a Sunday afternoon.

Author Reply: Hello Estelle,
I'm pleased to hear the story kept you amused. I had a lot of fun writing it and I think that shows. Although when I read it now, I see lots of room for improvement, I still like it a lot and I intend to write a sequel about these two one day (maybe when I'm finished with my current project, another Eomer/Lothiriel scenario).

Thanks for taking the time to leave a review. It's nice to still get feedback after all this time!

I just finished reading this and really enjoyed your story. Thank you for sharing your talent. Eomer and Lothiriel are two of my favorite characters and Tolkien left so much unspoken for us. I really enjoyed the Archery tournament, and the agreement Lothiriel and Eomer came to regarding her training. Another favorite scene is the wedding hall with Legolas and Lothiriel and her new bow. I could see it play out in my mind, it made me laugh. You truly are a gifted story teller. Thank you

I have added you to my list of favorite authors.

Author Reply: Hello Adamas,
For some reason, Eomer was always my favourite character, right from the first time I read the books, and I got rather annoyed with Peter Jackson for minimising his role in the films so much - which was really what got me started on this story and now I just seem to be stuck with them.

That scene with the new bow of course looks back to the archery tournament and I thought it would show just how much their relationship has changed since then.

Thanks for taking the time to leave a review!

I love this story- wonderful characterizations, an honest portrayal of life, real discourse... everything that a story should have! (And the heat of this story... wow!)

Author Reply: Hello speckled Llama,
what a nice surprise, to have another review for this story in my in-box after all this time! I'm so pleased to hear you liked it, thank you for your praise. I have just started publishing another Eomer/Lothiriel scenario, but I still plan to come back to these two one day and write a sequel.

And this is it!
I have to say that I love the all story. Since december of the last year I'm following each chapter. I learn to love this couple as you know. And I'm going to miss this, because this was a part of my life too.
I picture every scene in my mind, every moment, and was very amusing the way you play with us, but always was with respect to the readers.
Everything that begins has an end, and this one was perfect for the story.
My opinion is that you are an excellent writer, so go on! keep on doing this. I hope more in the future, really don't know what I want to read...
Well, I'm short of vocabulary (of course in English! It takes me some time write this paragraph), but I think that I could express exactly what I want.

Thanks for share this with us, and for take your time and give an answer to every review.

Hasta pronto!

Author Reply: Hola Celeste,
thank you for coming on this journey with me! I've enjoyed it immensely and I know I'm going to miss hearing from you and the other reviewers I feel that I have got to know. I seem to have caught the writing bug, however, so the next story is already in the works.

I think there will be a sequel to this story at some point, but at the moment it's still a bit vague in my mind. In the meantime I've already published that little extra material to Falcons, you might like that even though it's only short.

Saludos

Hi Lia,

What a great end to a beautiful story! I don't know how u manage to find the time with 3 girls to run around after as well as working, but u do and I for one thank you.

My favourite part is still where Eowyn and Lotti get attacked by the Southlanders.

Can't wait to see more stories from you, you write so engagingly.

Alatriel.

Author Reply: Hello Alatriel,
I only have to look around my flat to see where I find the time to write - I economize on tidying up... (But I call it setting priorities)

I've started work on the next story - an alternative Eomer/Lothiriel scenario - but I think it will be a while until I start publishing. Tonight, though, it's that dead sea creature that I promised.

Thanks for your review!

Emerging from that room - it must have been a strain. I should think they would both rather pull the pillows over their heads and pretend the outside world didn't exist. For a while, anyway.

Lothiriel is getting pretty good at tormenting Eomer - only she knows she's doing it rather more now! And Eomer enjoyed picking on Amrothos, poor hung-over prince.

Lovely symbolism of the falcons flying free - Lothiriel has indeed found her place as Eomer's queen.

Lovely story. I hope you have plans to tell us more about Lothiriel's life in Rohan. I'm sure there will be at least some fireworks on the way!

Author Reply: Hello Bodkin,
don't feel too sorry for Eomer and Lothiriel, after all they have the second longest night of the year coming up. Lothiriel is getting more aware of her power, but then he rather likes it. Like Eowyn said, his life is going to be interesting from now on (especially if I should decide to write a sequel - nothing like a sadistic author to add a bit of excitement to your life).

You'll get another glimpse of how Amrothos is feeling next weekend.

Thanks for your many reviews on this story, I've always had a good chuckle over them!

Lovely story, Lia! I enjoyed all of it - the adventure, the romance, annoying brothers and all. Thanks for sharing it. I will gladly read more adventures of Eomer and Lothiriel.

Author Reply: Hello Nilmandra,
I have to say I really enjoyed writing it, even though it turned out to be a lot longer and lot more work than I had initially reckoned on. Thanks for your encouragement and letting me post on this site, I think it's great and has such nice users.

well, i am lost for words! clearly you never are, but i'm so sad that this wonderful story has come to an end. do you ever post on fanfiction.net? it's a shame to think that this would not have the widest audience possible.

Author Reply: Hello eyes of sky,
Thanks for your review. I do post this story under the same name on fanfiction.net, but thanks for the suggestion.
