Ooh, I am loving this story! There are so many small details that I particularly like scattered in what is probably my most favourite chapter so far: Gimli's wanting to remove the hand and the whip; Merry's realization of what happened to Frodo ("His cousin!"); Sam's exclamation upon seeing the blasted remains of the volcano; and Frodo's convulsively hugging the water bottle to him. Yet there are many more bits I liked too, and the chapter as a whole has left me looking eagerly forward to the next part!

Aw poor, poor Sam. He doesn't need to be there to remember but he does need the loving support of the rest to cope with the experience. And what devotion! To go into that awful place for a second time - just for his Frodo! And Pippin! He's an addict that is going to need all the help he can get with his feelings about those dratted stones! I am glad that Gandalf is around to help Frodo re-order his memories but I suspect that 'vivid' may be an understatement. 'Gulp' warning for the next chapter? Oh, and I loved the idea that the men were sorry that they hadn't swept a path for the Hobbits!

Oh my god! He's such a stubborn hobbit, and also very brave! I really hope, Frodo will not regret his decision. But after all, this is a "shirebound story" and I trust you not to harm him too much ;-) I also admire Sam's courage. He only needed to see the tower and all his terrible memories were back at once. But he went in anyway - for Frodo! “Not come with you?” Sam cried out, aghast. “I’ll not leave you alone, sir. Not ever.” Taking Frodo’s hand, he stepped across the threshold.

Oh my. My heart is in my throat for Frodo... But oh how I admire his strength and bravery. And Gimli's compassion and practical caring, and Sam- dear Sam, right there for Frodo despite how difficult this is for him, too. A wonderful chapter, Shirebound. I'm sure it wasn't easy to write.

This is just marvelously told. All the little details as they approach--little things, like the rubble over which the hobbits must walk, the care taken to be sure there is no way for Shelob to enter, the view of the plain, and the description of the tower room. Sam's reluctance. I loved Merry's thought as they climbed, about "his cousin", as well. All of it just rang so true!

Ah! Another cliff-hanger! Evil, evil! :) :) Oh my, here comes the most angsty part, I have no doubt. Gandalf is going to help him remember and...it's all going to come back, isn't it? For the first time I'm beginning to wonder if it wouldn't have been better if Frodo had chosen otherwise. But we all trust you to take good care of our dearest hobbits, Shirebound. :) And poor Sam! I know that had to be hard; but it was admirable in him to go ahead, with no thought much for himself. Can't wait for the next one! God bless, Galadriel

Oh no! You have stopped at the worst possible place for the reader! Now I have to wait to see what happens!! This is getting better and better, shirebound! Hannon le. Namarie! Frodo Baggins

Have I mentioned lately that I love your Gimli? Because I do. And Alcaren too. I love that he's "family" now. The hobbits seem to acquire family wherever they go! That sense of friendship and community is one of the wonderful things about your writing :)

So THAT's what Frodo wanted Gandalf to do! Oh, dear. I hope he can handle the memories. Maybe that's why Sam felt Aragorn needed to be there. I love how you pluck little snips of detail from the books and include them in your stories. It makes them feel so much a part of canon that sometimes I get confused as to what is Tolkien and what is Shirebound! Looking forward to the next chapter. :)

Frodo is so brave to return to that dreadful room. I love the way that Aragorn is so thoughtful with everyone,I'm sure his soldiers all love him. I eagerly await the next chapter.
