| There is something very endearing about hobbits bustling around a kitchen and cooking their favorite foods. I epecially loved Gandalf's "eagle eye" trained on Pippin. I don't blame Pip for procrastinating, it's always so sad to pack up one's things and have to deal with an empty room, even for a day. I put it off too! :D Author Reply: Hobbits just seem to *belong* in a kitchen. I loved this fic, because it took place *entirely* in the kitchen! (Well, I suppose the larder, as well.) I was going to do a bit about the three bigger members of the Company coming up the street and smelling the baking--and then thought, no, I'll just have them mention it--the whole thing will be in the kitchen! And I thought it would be hilarious if poor put-upon Pip, after getting the third degree about his packing from his cousins that morning should have to endure the same thing again from Gandalf. I could just *hear* Frodo and Merry sniggering, LOL! | |
