| Well, no, that's unthinkable, isn't it? If Bilbo had never gone with the dwarfes and not found the One Ring ... or someone other had gone, wo had no Frodo and no Sam, Pippin und Merry to help him? Luckily Tolkien didn't let Holman be *that* obliging! Author Reply: Yes, it's very lucky indeed, for all of Middle-earth! Just as lucky as JRRT changing Frodo's name from "Bingo" *shudder* and turning the hobbit "Trotter" into the Ranger, Aragorn. I *much* prefer the story that ultimately came to us!! | |
