Great story, on how to keep a active boy, out of the sights of a wizard, dwarf and hobbit. And Elrond's worry about keeping the wine on the selves. Very good pass-off, of boy, by Glorfindel, to the twins.

Author Reply: Thank-you, grumpy, glad that you are enjoying.
Glorfindel knows how to dispel a threat, doesn't he?

This is cute! I love the grumpy Glorfindel and I wonder what it is with Elrond's prized wine taht none of the mortals like it. This is fun so far. Looking forward to more!

Author Reply: Thank-you, Ellie.

Glorfindel has had some difficult days, it seems. And regarding the wine, if you asked Erestor, he would say that Elrond's wine is one of those overvalued, overprized produces of boutique wineries. On the other hand, Elrond would argue that mortal palates are not ready to savour his prized wine. A matter of taste!

Oh my. Disaster is looming with everyone involved in so many distractions. One thing about curious children, they'll always go where they're not meant to be. I'm looking forward to seeing where this will go.

Author Reply: Well, yes, we have a house full of children of all ages, so anything can happen here. This this can only go, as Elrond wisely foresaw, to disaster. And we shall follow.

Thank-you, Haleth

If that was a peaceful morning, I wouldn't want to be around when things are going seriously haywire! I loved Elrond getting concerned about his wine cellar and Erestor provoking him about it - and speculating about the future disappearance of the key! And then, the Erestor / Elladan moments were priceless. I loved Elrohir sitting there in his filthy clothes - spewing wine down himself - and wondering how to avoid a paternal ear-bashing!

Glorfindel would be just so humiliated by a fall from his horse - I hope his patrol managed to keep straight faces - but he is powerless to resist Gilraen's wiles. (I adore a Glorfindel who can defeat Balrogs and keep the Elrondionnath in line, but melts before a winsome smile!) And Estel is seriously delightful - and in full command of the childhood nagging technique.

Very sensible to keep Estel away from Mithrandir, 13 Dwarves and a Perian. They've already accomplished miracles if they've kept him hidden so far. And I suspect still bigger miracles will be needed to keep him out of sight over the next twenty four hours!

Most enjoyable! Can't wait for more.

Author Reply: Erestor and Elrond are at it, again, this time at each other. They should have learned after all those years, but they cannot resist, teasing each other it seems. And Glorfindel is not happy, although he wouldn't let that show before a lady!

I am imagining here a big house with many people, so not all that difficult to keep the child "low profile", provided that *everybody* behaves accordingly...

Your review made me laugh. I am glad that you fonud it entertaining, Bodkin. I had a great time writing it, and I was in need of a good laugh. Hope it works.

I love The Hobbit and I'm so glad to see this story! Your elves are very much like those in that book, merry and full of jokes.

Both parts of this were great:

Elrohir’s serious face lit up with a brief, knowing smile that always reminded Erestor of a smug duck playing at being king of the pond.

At times, though, it also reminded him of Celeborn.

Author Reply: You see, this Erestor seems to have a life of his own. I do not know where *this* At times, though, it also reminded him of Celeborn. came from ;-) He's a bit exasperated, I fear, merriment and jokes and all, for he seems to have got the worst lot...

Oh, this looks like fun! Do we get to see Bilbo and the Dwarves?

I really like the set-up here--that Elrond & Co. are trying to keep little Estel secret not only from Thorin & Co., but from Gandalf as well. Very interesting! I've read many fics where there *is* a meeting at this time, but only one where there was an attempt to keep the child a secret! I'm eager to see your take on this.

Author Reply: Oh, this looks like fun! Do we get to see Bilbo and the Dwarves? They show up in Chapter 2, much to Erestor's dismay...

Yes, Nilmandra was cleverer than me, and sent him camping. I just thought that they might receive guests often, and that sending the child out would not always be an option... But I always thought they would have kept Estel's existence more or less secret, one way or another...

Thank-you for your words. I hope this take keeps you entertained.

Yes, I can see where keeping Estel's existence a secret is important at this time. Just what do you do with a curious child who probably has no knowledge of the machinations that the rest of the household are going through to make things appear normal? A lot of laughs are on the way no doubt.

Author Reply: A lot of laughs are on the way no doubt. I hope so. At least I had a great fun writing it. A big house, a feast, foreign guests.. mayhem ensues. Soon.

Thanks for your review!

Oh, I needed a good laugh this morning! Poor Glorfindel (not!), poor Elladan (not!). I did enjoy Elrond's manipulations of Erestor. Erestor might be older and more diplomatic, but Elrond is definitely craftier.

Why is it I can just imagine what kind of foolishness and fun is going to happen on this day of the feast?

Author Reply: Glad to be of assitance ;-). I have been needing a good laugh myself, too... and laughing at Glofindel's misadventures seemed a good choice. I'm bad, I know.

Elrond had his point, here. And yet, he's a bit worried about his wine... He should have known by now about Erestor's scheming abilities... but he couldn't resist, I'd say.

Why is it I can just imagine what kind of foolishness and fun is going to happen on this day of the feast? Well.. that's what feast are about, :-)
