Shelter  by shirebound 70 Review(s)

Nice start Shirebound. Had to laugh at Aragorn's comment about how he should have thought of doing this sooner. One of my very best friends has cerebral palsy and many the time during High School I'd hear someone complaining about being at school w/a cold, then Stacy would pass them on her scooter and all the complaining suddenly stopped. :o)

Looking forward to seeing where this goes. :oD

Author Reply: Thanks, Tigger! And I like your analogy with Stacy -- most of us take sooo much for granted until we're reminded how lucky we really are.

Oh this was wonderful! I love the respect and reverence shown by the Men - what a day for them! All of a sudden they have the Ringbearers and Pippin AND two kings and an Elf!!

I don't think Cormallen can ever be visited too often.

Author Reply: I have an insatiable appetite for Cormallen scenes and stories. How lovely of the Professor to leave all those days for us to fill in! Yes, that's quite the procession that just entered the shelter. What fun. Thanks, BB!

LOL, I love this! I was just thinking about all that sunny weather the other day as I was patching up the story I wrote several years ago. Oh, I just love the quiet reverence the Men showed to our magnificent hobbits! I am looking forward to more!

Author Reply: Oooh, "quiet reverence" -- that's a great way to say it. Thank you, Pip.

Well it is a bit of a drastic way to get the men to stop grumbling and complaining. Geat start as usual Shirebound.

Author Reply: Drastic but apparently effective! Thank you. Hobbits are so comforting, even when asleep.

Imagine that scene! Those poor soldiers, weary and injured and maybe really bored because every day is like the previous, are suddenly confronted with *Lord* Aragorn, *King* Eomer and *Prince* Legolas, carrying no other than the Ringbearers and the Prince of the Halflings! Wow!

One at a time, in utter silence, all who could walk passed by the three sleeping hobbits, bowing in respect. Those who were bedridden just looked, unable to believe their good fortune.

"Unable to believe their good fortune" - that describes it perfectly.

Very nice! I'm looking forward to reading the next chapter :)

Author Reply: Thank you so much. I've rarely had such a persistent plotbunny clamp onto my ankle and refuse to let go. More soon!

O lovely! We are thinking along the same lines, I think, visiting Cormallen as it were. I will try to get back later and pick out some favourite quotes, but I am out of time for the moment.

Author Reply: Thank you, Lin -- especially as you have such limited time to read or review anything.

Oh this was wonderful! I think the men would have been awed by the Ringbearers, as you so wonderfully portrayed. :) Keep up the good work! Namarie!
God BLess,
Frodo Baggins

Author Reply: Thank you, Frodo. I think so, too!

Certainly more interesting than my idea that a special roof was hung over the tent at such times. And the soldiers must have indeed competed to offer the three of them safe havens when the storms threatened to hit.

Author Reply: I never tire of the ways we can fill in these "missing days". And I certainly never tire of folks honoring the hobbits, and seeing to their comfort!

Éomer drew Aragorn aside. “I do not think we will hear any grumbling or complaining today,” he said.

“I agree,” Aragorn smiled. “Perhaps we should have thought of this sooner.”

Indeed!

I eagerly await more - wonderful as always :)

Author Reply: Thank you. I'll try to get the next chapter up as soon as possible.
