When the King Comes Back  by shirebound 24 Review(s)

I'm glad our heroes don't seem to be too badly injured. It is sad the Rangers are so mistrusted.I hope you enjoy your trip and will eagerly await more when you return.

Author Reply: The Shire- and Bree-folk certainly do seem to have a mistrust of these wild-looking Rangers, but they truly don't understand what the Rangers are doing for them. I'll dive back into the story as soon as I return. :D

Yea! I got to stick around long enough to see one more chapter! I'm out of here next Saturday at the crack of dawn (*groan* too early!) and I don't like leaving them when they're hurt, but I know as long as they're in your hands they'll be all right in the end. :) I love Gilly!
God bless,
Galadriel

P.S. You've got Hamson instead of Halfred here: “Shhh, now,” Hamson said, stroking Sam’s curls.

Author Reply: Thank you for spotting 'Hamson'! I've fixed it.

And I don't like leaving them either, but RL calls sometime. The story will continue as soon as possible. :D

Both unconscious. Poor Bilbo. He's certainly going to have his hands full.

Author Reply: He certainly will! But at least, unlike "Quarantined", he has lots of helpers this time.

Gilly is si efficient! Too bad Aragorn doesn't have any broken bones (*cough* did I just say that? :D) because I'd love to see a hobbit have to set a big person's bone. I imagine it would take a lot of muscle!
*sits back and waits for the comfort* :D

Author Reply: I just couldn't bear any more broken bones so soon after Halbarad's broken ankle in "Force of Nature". Not that we'd want any, of course. *cough* But that's a great idea you have there about a hobbit having to set a Big Person's bone -- maybe *you* can write something about that!

Comfort... my favorite part! :D

Enjoy the trip Shirebound and come back brimming with ideas. Am loving this...but then I haven't found a single one of your tales that I haven't loved!

Bilbo's clean hanky! *g*

Author Reply: Thank you so much, Harrowcat! I'm looking forward to my trip, and also to getting back to this story when I return. Ah yes, Bilbo will never again be without a pocket full of handkerchiefs, will he? :D

Both Aragorn and Frodo injured, hooray! I mean, I'm really looking forward to their waking up and being grumpy patients and talking and all.

Gosh, this is great! (poor things!)

Author Reply: Yes, hooray! I mean, poor things! Thanks, Amy! I'm looking forward to them waking up, as well. :D

First you end the last chapter with a great cliff-hanger, and now this is almost as bad, you've hurt my beloved Frodo and now you say it may be a few *weeks*??!! until we know whether he's all right? Well, I suppose this is sweet revenge (indirectly) for all the times I've gleefully left people hanging in my epic. I am enjoying this though anyway. Have fun on your trip!

Namarie, God bless, Antane

Author Reply: At least I left everyone in the care of a good healer before I planned my trip! Thank you for your kind words; I'm very happy you're enjoying this story so much.

"Taking Charge" - an appropriate title! And I was right, Gilly has it all under control! A fine healer! I really hope there won't be any troubles with those wounds, like infections? Well, I'll have to wait...

I just loved it that the Gaffer scolded the other hobbits, especially Sandyman, for blaming the Rangers for the accident. After all, Aragorn saved Frodo's life!

I wish you a nice weekend trip! Until the next chapter!

Author Reply: I love the way the Gaffer stands up for the Bagginses -- and their guests -- just as he does at the beginning of FOTR (book). I think he's a very under-rated character. A very strong fellow, who had very strong and reliable children.

Thank you for the good wishes! I'll update as soon as possible.

Oh, that glass- ouch! Poor Frodo, at least he was unconscious while it was removed. I love how you show the immediate effect on everyone- the villagers who suspect Aragorn, Sam's father (and oh the moment he pulls Sam into a hug), Bilbo... It will be hard to be patient and wait for more, it's such a marvelous tale :)

Author Reply: Thank you, lbilover. It's hard for me to have to wait to *write* the next part. And I do love a warm fluffy Gaffer, even if he's gruff on the outside.

DreamflowerReviewed Chapter: 3 on 6/4/2006
Wonderful! Aragorn and Frodo *both* in need of lots of hobbity TLC! And now, of course, Aragorn can't go to the meeting with the Dwarves. Poor Halbarad! And he's had the bejeebers scared out of him.

And how like Sandyman to try and blame the Rangers for the explosion! I'm glad the Gaffer set him straight in no uncertain terms!

So you are going off and leaving us to dangle by our fingernails for a while, eh? Well, have a good time, and spend every spare second thinking up what comes next!

Author Reply: That nasssty Sandyman! Every small town has one, I guess. At least Sam was an eyewitness to what really happened, not what folks might *think* happened. Eeee, fingernail dangling! I look forward to diving into chapter 4 as soon as possible. :D
