hey! this character kinda reminds me of me. I did some of the same things dating-- tried to throw off certain people ( uhm, didn't work - married the guy 8 years ago yesterday) So, I can see where this could go .....^__^

Author Reply: Hello Vampfan,
sounds like a bit of a trial by fire to me! Nothing like a black eye to liven up a relationship I suppose - did you try that one too?

It would be a very stupid way to die ... but I somehow don't think she will just yet!

Very brave of her to rescue the King of Rohan - who really should have been warned about the dangers of riding on the beach. And they're about to be stuck on a small island together until the tide goes down? With her all wet and in clingy clothes? And him able to show his manly strength and versatility. (Not like that!!) Lighting driftwood fires and providing dry shirts, while showing off admirable pecs. And a good six-pack.

Could be interesting! Looking forward to the next chapter.

Author Reply: Hello Bodkin,
don't give too much away! As I said before, they need a place for a cosy tête-a-tête and it looks like they finally got it. I don't know about driftwood fires (it is rather a small island), but you might get lucky with the pecs...

More soon!

Lothiriel, dear princess, when are you going to learn? Always in trouble.
Right now, I'm so intrigued (so, well done!)... I'm sure that I have to wait a week for the next part!

Author Reply: Hello Celeste,
She's never going to learn - not as long as she's in my clutches ;-) You know me well, it's going to be another week, but I promise to update faithfully!

I love your story, and I really hope that Lothiriel will tell Eomer the truth once they reach the island. Great job!

Author Reply: They will be stuck on that island for a while, so the truth might well come out eventually...

Ah, a cliffy!! Going down to the beach was *not* a good idea, for both of them and now lives are in danger.Poor Anca,I hope he swam to safety!

No wonder Eomer didn't recognise Lothiriel in her 'normal' clothes and he was positively ice-cold towards her when he realised who she was.I didn't blame him in the slightest for his reaction, but at least Lothiriel realised that her behaviour had been abominable.

Now, a warrior King and a troubled Princess stuck on a small island as they're surrounded by the raging sea may just be the perfect oppurtunity for the truth to come out.Eomer will want to know why Lothiriel lied to him and Eomer can show her his caring side.I can't wait to read more! Just don't let them be rescued too soon.I want angst!

Update soon.

Author Reply: Hello Ali,
Don't worry about the dog, she's an excellent swimmer. Also don't worry about them being rescued too quickly - it would be no fun! I couldn't resist the idea of those two being stranded on a lonely island completely on their own, especially now that Eomer knows she's been lying to him. On the other hand he now owes her his life. Things might well get interesting in the next chapter.

More next week!

The aunt reminds me so much of Mark Darcy's aunt in Pride and Prejudice!! What an absolute horror. You are portraying her very well Lia. I guess it's fortunate that Eomer is a mighty warrior. Can you imagine the pool of mush on the floor that any ordinary man would have been reduced to after just one or two scathing remarks from the old cow!!!!!!!

I imagine the revenge coming Lothiriels way from Eomer after the remark about having an open marriage. Am actually rubbing my hands with glee hoping that you might touch on that later. What a hoot!!!

Yet again we all hold our breath in anticipation of the next chapter, and the next, and the next................

Don't keep us waiting too long Lia, we are hungry for more!!

Alatriel.

Author Reply: Hello Alatriel,
I saw the latest adaption of Pride and Prejudice with (I think) Judy Dench, and that's indeed just the kind of woman I have in mind. The sort who'd terrorize her whole family if you let her!

That last remark of Lothiriel's was rather ill-timed, wasn't it. I'm sure Eomer won't just let it drop. You won't have to wait too long now, the next chapter is planned for Friday. I have to warn you though, this is only going to be a short story, 7 chapters and an epilogue to be precise.

Thanks for leaving me a review!

Oh dear! That was a dirty blow - and I reckon Lothiriel will feel rather begrimed by it. But you can't win a war without casualties. Now - the foot-crushing and the lack of conversation - and the prevarication about horses - well, that's one thing. Could even be considered a way of getting to know Eomer, but the 'arrangements'... that's going a bit far!

Aunt Ivriniel is a bit of a dragon. One with poor taste in clothes and personal adornment.

But Lothiriel has been shown an indication of what the other pretty ladies see in the Horse Lord ... still, she's not giving in. And I'm sure she has other schemes in mind. Small boats, perhaps? Rough seas? Delicious sea-treats with an excessive number of legs? (Or none at all.)

I'm fascinated to see where her next move will take her.

Author Reply: Hi Bodkin,
Like I said before she's been reading too many books on warfare. As Hyarmendacil says in his famous treatise: One should strike boldly and without regard to loss or else not at all.

I had to chuckle when you enumerated all the other possible schemes - and you do tempt me, especially with those sea-treats - but actually what I think these two need is some quality time together. Being a kind and considering author I see it as my duty to provide them with it in a nice cosy place...

Well, first blood in the battle goes to Lothiriel but at what price? Eomer was rightly disgusted by Lothririel's invitation that they be unfaithful to each other once married and I think she's bitten off more than she can chew. Her father will no doubt find out about her behaviour and be properly incensed, not to mention confused about her intentions.

That smile of Eomer's could melt the coldest of hearts and Lothiriel was almost swooning until she caught herself--I want to shake her to make her see sense but I also understand her reasons for acting so horribly. She wants to be in charge of her own destiny and I can't fault her for that. She just has to be more tactful and less cruel.

Also, kudos to Eomer for standing up to the Aunt from Hell.He certainly kept his temper but I'm glad Imrahil whisked her away when he did.

So, no doubt there will be repercussions from Lothiriel's behaviour and I can't wait to read more of this.Poor Eomer, he needs a soul mate and I think he should lick his wounds and try again.Let the battle continue!

Update soon.

Ali.

Author Reply: Hi Ali,
I see Lothiriel as starting to panic and ending up saying things she didn't really mean when Eomer just wouldn't give up. You are right though, the price was high. And these things have a way of coming out eventually!

As for Eomer finding a soul mate, they have one thing in common at least: they are both very stubborn. But I think he rather likes a challenge.

Yes, the battle will continue...

I don't quite know why, but the image of Lothiriel all kitted out in Barbie pink with a green veil over her hair makes me think of a fishing fly. Just presenting herself in the best way (quite against her will) to ensure that the predatory Eomer-fish snaps her up.

She'd have been more nondescript in her favourite green frock. Camouflaged with all the rest of the available maidens displaying to attract the attention of Rohan's king.

It must be infuriating for her to have her life sorted out for her without her consent - not that she would really have expected much say in the matter - but I don't think her protest is going to work!

Author Reply: Hello Bodkin,
you might have a point there, she'll certainly stand out in the crowd. Well if the dress won't work, she'll just have to think of something else, won't she. Something tells me she's not one to give up easily and what is more, she's been reading to many books on warfare...

Need I say more?

Oh, I can't wait for the next one. I love this, the anticipation of Lotti's foot in mouth disease that is yet to come. I've started laughing already. Can't wait to see what tricks she has up her sleeve.
Good one Lia.
Alatriel.

Author Reply: Hello Alatriel,
Yeah, Lothiriel has quite a few tricks up her sleeve and absolutely no intention of pulling her punches. After all she had 3 months to plan this.

You'll see!
