Testaments of the Past  by Dreamflower 12 Review(s)
shireboundReviewed Chapter: 2 on 6/19/2006
What wonderful letters! I'm enjoying them as much as the hobbits are. How I wish I had letters I had written (or had received) when I was very young.

(Should 'receipts' be 'recipes'?)

Author Reply: I love to look at old letters and documents, and things I wrote when I was a kid!

"Reciepts" is the old-fashioned word for recipe. You'll often find it used that way in books from the turn of the century (19th to 20th, I should say--it's so hard to realize there is another turn of the century now...)

Fried apples and onions? Hmmm... sounds intriguing! I love recipes (receipts). And honeycakes! I sure would love to try that one - it sounds delicious! It's no wonder that everytime I read a good hobbit fic I end up HUNGRY! There's always just so much good eating in them!

I loved the letters too. It's always so much fun to reminisce over the past while reading old letters.

One small spelling thingy though - Freddy and Folco go to *peak* at the dessert table and it should be *peek*. Just a little thing....

Great chapter again, Dream and Gryffonjack!

Author Reply: Yes, hobbits do love food, don't they?

It is fun to look at old letters, isn't it?

And--you'd think with *two* of us, we'd spot a blooper like that! *facepalm* All fixed now!
