How lovely to see Ruvemir again! I love seeing the rebuilding and renewal of Annuminas. It sounds delightful. What I really loved was the description of the pose; it really will be almost like sharing the garden with his friend! Author Reply: I enjoyed allowing Ruvemir to work on the reconstruction of Annuminas here, Dreamflower, and am also glad to see him again. For those involved in rebuilding Annuminas this must have seemed like a dream come true, a fantasy suddenly granted. At last their land once again is viable and worthy of the respect it once knew. And I'm so glad you feel this way about the pose of the statue--I so agree!

This is a wonderful premise, and a lovely story. My uncle was a sculptor of wood and stone, and he used to say that he let the material 'tell' him what they wanted to become. You capture the essence of that so beautifully. And in Middle-earth, I suspect that even stone would be sentient and in need of purpose, in its own way. Author Reply: Part of the inspiration for this was a tale written for Imhiriel's birthday at the same time I wrote the story from the POV of the throne of Gondor in which one of the building stones from ruined Annúminas mourned that it no longer formed part of the Citadel there. I thought of it when describing the King's Retreat in "The First Snowfall of the Year," and was able to do more with it here. And these stones had graced the halls of those with the strongest Dúnedain blood within Middle Earth for millenia--shouldn't they wish to return to that calling once more? Am so glad you appear to find this believable. Thank you so, Shirebound!

Good to see Aragorn and his people are into recycling! More please, Lynda Author Reply: Well, definitely his people are into it! And for any statue touched by Ruvemir I'd expect nothing but excellence. Thank you so, Lynda!
