Mardil Goes A-Courting  by Le Rouret 49 Review(s)

*giggle* This is so fluffy and funny... and you still keep the forsooth speech that makes your stories so "period" feeling.

Why do I have a feeling though that our dear Green Knight is going to find everything topsy-turvy to what he thinks is the thing to do? *giggle*

Thanks for this lovely fun tale.

Author Reply: Thank you! I have a soft spot for fluff. Angst and blood-letting is all very well, but every once in a while you just need to turn your brain off ...

Devious!!!! Deliciously devious!!!!!!!!!!! Oh I can't wait to see how this plays out!!!! Legolas can drop his day job!!

Author Reply: His "day job" - as Midwife? ;-)

Sweet Lord, Legolas as match maker. Trust him with my life yes, trust him to find me a spouse, I think not. As always you have a fine story going, I love it. I just have a sneaking suspicion that Mardil will end up with a bride not because of any thing Legolas comes up with but in spite of his antics.
Where is Bandobras when you need him.

Post soon,
E

Author Reply: I've twisted Tolkien's tertiary character to be a jouster, a multimillionaire, a cuckold, a midwife, and an adopted uncle ...so why not match-maker? Heaven knows he likes to keep his fingers in all the available pies!

I swear you're trying to kill us...a naked Legolas and a wicked little smile at the end of each chapter...methinks there is more going on in that complicated elven mind than we know at the moment!

Author Reply: Oh, the wheels are turning, that's for sure ... now on to the next complication!

There is something remarkably entertaining about imagining Legolas as a matchmaker and midwife. Dipping his fingers into pies and twiddling them to manipulate people to his liking. A puppet-master. Only, if his own romantic experience is anything to go by, he is definitely not perfect.

Faramir is very brave (foolhardy?) to get involved!

Author Reply: Legolas is rather meddlesome, isn't he? Let's hope all the "twiddling" results in the intended conclusion!

Joy!! A new Green Knight story. This line does not bode well for Mardil and his (if Legolas has his way) intended: “If this goes ill Legolas … “
“It will not,” said Legolas. “Trust me.”
And who is this "lucky" girl (young women, I should say), perhaps Araval's youngest daughter??

I'm cheering for Mardil to find wedded bliss despite Legolas' interference.

Author Reply: "Despite"? Oh, you of little faith ... ;-)

As far as I'm concerned, the Jewel of Ithilien will always be Faramir, particularly since Faramir's name incorporates the Elvish word for "Jewel". But I'm certainly willing to concede that Legolas is pretty.

One huge flaw in this chapter - there are no cameras or even court artists to immortalize nekkid Legolas and nekkid Faramir sunning themselves. I would have been happy to volunteer...

Author Reply: Well, next time I take Legolas and Faramir's clothes off I'll be sure to hang around with a camera. A shame I can't draw ...

Well, picturing a naked Legolas certainly drove my February blues away.I like how your mind works, Le Rouret ;D

Oh, there's going to be trouble! Legolas' match-making is now legendary but he hasn't always succeeded and, as Faramir pointed out, he is not a wedded elf so he may not understand the pitfalls of pairing a very young girl to an older man.Mardil may be a man but he may not wish to marry a child, no matter if Legolas encourages him to do so!

I'm really happy to see this new story of yours, Le Rouret.I can't wait to see how Legolas tries to beguile Mardil! That will be worth waiting for.Update soon!

Ali.

Author Reply: Hm, I do seem to incorporate a naked Legolas into each of my stories, don't I? Though this appears to be the first time I actually started one with him in the buff.

Now, as long as he remains clothed for the remainder of the story, I think he'll do fine.

I'm so excited to see another story! I was wondering if we'd hear about any match-making efforts. Legolas just can't leave it alone, can he?

I hope to hear how Mistress Pearl is doing...looking forward to more incredible story-telling from one of my very favorite authors.

Author Reply: I'm glad you're enjoying yourself! This is certainly fun to write. All fluff, no action ... like marshmallows, only with courtly language!
