A Centenary of Special Significance  by Baggins Babe 97 Review(s)
TiggerReviewed Chapter: 4 on 3/3/2007
Oh no...That poor man. Sadly, situations such as this would be too common during those times. I was thinking it would only be the thought of facing Halbarad's grave that would be lying heavy on him, but for it to be this as well... Sigh. :o(

Hobbits are amazing creatures and capable of bringing healing to those they care for. The bond being made between little Freddy and Erithain will help more than any of us may be able to see.

Looking forward to more of Ewithain and his little esquire. :oD

Oh and BB....Keep your eyes peeled for something coming your way through e-mail. Something from this delightful universe spawned a plotbunny that hopped along and bit me hard!! I'm *very* pleased w/the end result. :o)

Author Reply: Poor Erithain - I did put the poor man through it, didn't I?

Love the thought of Erithain's 'little esquire!! Sweet! I think Freddy will help to heal his new friend.

Sounds intriguing - will have a look. Flattered that my universe is affecting others.

Poor Erithain - I had feared something like this, as it was sadly only too likely that things like that had to happen back then. It is not easy to get over these terrible experiences, and it is only too understandable that he is so withdrawn and solemn. Now I hope fervently this journey will be good for him and the hobbits, particularly little Freddy, will have something of a healing influence on him.

Author Reply: I think such events would definitely have happened at those times, as they did in Saxon England with incursions by the Vikings. I think the hobbits will be a very good influence.

The four hobbits made their way to bed, with much to ponder upon.

As do the rest of us BB - great, if awful chapter.

Author Reply: I'm glad you thought it was o.k. I've never written anything quite so grisly before.

Oh, how possible such a scenario would be in that setting. And I don't blame him for aging early.

Bless them all.

Author Reply: Sadly all too possible. Events such as this were common during the early Viking incursions along the English east coast.

I would think such experiences would cause anyone to age prematurely.

Ohhhh, Erithain -- all the Dunedain, actually -- needs hobbity lightness and comfort so very much! What a tragedy.

Author Reply: Yes, they certainly do! And that healing power will do much during this visit, especially with little Freddy about.

Tragedies like this must have happened. I based some of it one the story of a District Commissioner in India in the early 20th century, who returned to his home to find his wife and children all killed.

I agree with Queen Galadriel, you shouldn't leave us hanging like this! :-)

Can't wait to read Erithain's story! I love the pairing of Erithain and Freddy!

Waiting patiently as a Took. :-)

Idril

Author Reply: Hope I haven't left you hanging for too long. Erithain's story is in the next chapter, just posted - phew!

Gotta love little Freddy!

Hope your tookish patience isn't too exhausted.

Okay, I'm all caught up w/this amazing story. I adore little Freddy and his adoption of Erithain. The image of a dour Ranger w/a Hobbit faunt sharing his saddle...Too adorable!! Also so very happy to see shy and timid Blossom going out of her comfort zone. This trip really could be the making of her.

Can't wait to see them all meeting Glorfindel and the Twins!! :o)

Author Reply: Blossom will certainly not be the same hobbit when she returns but hopefully she will be changed in a positive way.

I suspect Glorfindel will be overwhelming for everyone - unless he uses his own personal dimmer switch!

Freddy is rather adorable, isn't he? At least he's amusing the poor Man.

Glad you've caught up - I was wondering where you were. There are some names I always look for in the reviews, and you are one of them.

This looks like it is going to be such a fun adventure! I'm so glad Nibs gets to go, and that Blossom's going with him--it will be fun to look at things through their eyes!

And little "Fweddy" is just too cute! I can see that he *already* is using that famous Fallohide charm to wrap a certain Ranger around his little finger!

Author Reply: I was just wondering where you were!

Little Freddy is so cute it's unspeakable! He will be able to wrap everyone round his little finger, I think, even famous Elf-lords and Balrog-slayers.

I'm looking forward to seeing the outside world through the eyes of Blossom and Nibs - should be interesting to explore.

Glad yo have you aboard for the journey - hope you packed plenty of food.

I'm looking forward to hearing Erithain's story. I'm so glad wee Freddy has befriended him :-)

Author Reply: Erithain's tragic story will be revealed in the next chapter, and should open the eyes of hobbits like Nibs and Blosson as to the sacrifices made by the Rangers.

Freddy just walk in and demanded that I write him into the tale. He does have a purpose though, befriending the Ranger.

Glad you enjoyed and hope you join us on the road to Gondor.

Not fair! Now you *and* Larner have me hanging off a cliff! I don't know if I'll survive this...*grins*

I loved the conversation between Isumbrand and Erithain, and needless to say I'm *very* eager to hear Erithain's tale!
God bless,
Galadriel
