I just love your Bell Gamgee. Strong, loving, knowing just how to handle a situation, how to admonish children without damaging their spirit. Wait...I just described most mothers! ;-) I truly enjoyed reading this sweet story. PF Author Reply: Yes, you did describe a great many mothers. I'm glad you liked it--I enjoy writing Bell, and seldom have an opportunity to do so.

Oh poor Bell! Yes, that's the kind of help every mother can do without! No wonder she is growing older by the minute! LOL! Absolutely brilliant - and she didn't yell at any of them. Author Reply: Yes, I think one of those phrases Moms most dread is "I just wanted to help!" (Along with "I didn't think it would do *that*!" and "I didn't mean to"!) LOL! I don't much think yelling's her style--she knows it would just wear her out.

Oh this is marvellous, and so true to life! They never grow up, do they? Loved Primula reminding them tactfully that it was Frodo's gift, and the ladies rolling their eyes at their excited menfolk. What a thoughtful gift from Bilbo - he'd have enjoyed being there I'm sure. I went to a model train fair once and although the children enjoyed it, it was the Dads who were most enthusiastic. Author Reply: The "train" thing is exactly what I had in mind; as well as the fact that to this day, I put a little sack of cheap plastic toy soldiers in my husband's Christmas stocking, LOL! When my son was little, almost every Christmas morning had the two of them on the floor with those toy soldiers...

Now is it going to be any better having both Sam and Mari together for the rest of the week? *g* Author Reply: Probably not, LOL! But I would bet she sends Sam off with the Gaffer when he gets back! (He'd be back up at Bag End, but not allowed to *play*!)

Ooh Frodo with a lisp is so sweet even if the effects are not. And boy and their toys! Great stuff just so long as I can join in too. I used to tease my brother unmercifully about his 'action man' dolls! Author Reply: I think kids that age lisping are adorable. I just couldn't resist giving him one. "Action figures" vs. "dolls"--my son would pitch a fit if we called his "dolls"! LOL!

Poor Bell--two households with "helping" on the minds of small children where the helping has done anything but; and two great disasters desperately in need of cleaning. Dear Marigold--learning first-hand about the nature of chimneys and soot! Bell indeed is having quite the day stamping out the remains of fires of ardor to "help"! Hilarious! Author Reply: Yes, children who want to "help" are the bane of a mother's existence! LOL!

ROTFL!!!! This is just sooo very true! What is it with boys and their toys??? It reminds me of my uncle ... anytime one of us kids or now his grandchildren got something cool HE'S the one on the floor playing with it first! LOL! That is such the perfect Bilbo-ish gift. Perhaps he didn't wish to have the spiders included ... maybe Frodo's not into bugs yet. I cimply love how you have all the grown lads stepping in to play, Primula reminding them of whose toy it really is, and then Frodo dictating his imagination to the lot. I certainly hope that each lad got to play with his favorite character in the story and no fighting ensued. LOL! And your Drogo is a teasing Drogo too!! :) I personally just can't picture him any other way, whether he be teasing Frodo or Primula. It was very nice indeed to come home after work and find such a sweet story to read! :D ~Elemmírë~ Author Reply: Well, I thought perhaps they just didn't get around to the spiders, yet. But I'm sure the "lads" will find something makeshift to use for spiders--the salt and pepper shakers, maybe? I imagine Drogo as being a bit like Bilbo--in my Shire, Bilbo was Drogo's teacher, so he would have had a lot of influence on him, I think.
