If You Could See What I Hear  by cathleen 60 Review(s)

This story is growing more and more interesting!

So, the faerie folk was waiting for another hobbit lad to find his way into their realm? And that special lad was Pippin! Wow! And they know he has an important task to do in the future. What else do they know, I wonder? This is very mysterious!

On the other hand, Paladin found out about his ancestor, too. And about that battle. I heard about that battle before, but I don't remember neither the source, nor the details. On the one hand the outcome is fascinating, and on the other hand it makes me shiver.

Abiding by the historic agreement, they retreated underground and now embrace and care for all of nature within and without the Otherworld.

They lived underground? How long? That must have been dreadful for people who love nature.

Last, but not least I have to agree with the Voice of the Oak, Paladin and Pippin have much in common, but they are also very different!

Can't wait for the next chapter :)

Oh my goodness! As the grandchild of a wise Irish woman, this tale has me tense and worried. I was always told to stay on the path, not go into the forest, not do any of the things Pippin is doing - because the 'little people' might do something to you.... *shivers in fear*

Author Reply: Yes, isn't it intriguing? I am also of Celtic heritage and these tales have always fascinated me!

Oh my goodness gracious - what a silly Hobbit! And poor Tulip - she must be beside herself from the cold and worry!

Author Reply: Yup, poor Pip is proceeding without a thought, as usual!

Ahh--he's managed to cross over into Faerieland himself--briefly, at least.

Lovely!

Author Reply: Yes indeed, he has. Paladin should have quite the adventure there, just like his son. Thanks so much for your comments and continued support - both mean a great deal to me!

Wow! That was written beautifully! You could feel the magic surrounding Paladin and Pippin.

Pearl's review made me curious. Did that voice belong to the oak tree or to a spirit that lives in the tree but is able to leave it? I don't know many faerie stories.

Anyway, Paladin has entered the faerie world now and I'm quite sure he will find his son. But I'm eager to know more about the mysterious Took ancestor who met Eolande, for example his name ;-)

Author Reply: Thank you so much! The voice Paladin hears is the spirit of the ancient oak. In faerielore and paganism, trees are sacred and they contain spirits. The oak is particularly revered by the fey folk as legend says the oak tree protects them. Oaks have many magical properties, as do other trees mentioned in this tale. You'll also find oaks in many of the tales I write. Everything in this story is based on info from mythology and faerielore. It has become a truly fascinating subject to me during my research for this story.

Paladin will learn more as he goes along, before he finds Pippin. He may or may not find out the name of the ancestor - you'll have to keep reading to see!

What an absolutely delightful tale! I'm so glad I found it.

I just loved the whole thing - but especially WHY Pip needed two baths. Well written shenanigans...

And I cannot believe his sister didn't scream when the eggs broke.

Great fun! Thanks so much!

Author Reply: Thank you! I'm so pleased to know you're enjoying it and I hope it continues to entertain!

My goodness, the Magic just grows deeper and deeper. I wonder how much Pippin and his father will remember of this? But of course Tulip will remember everything. :)

Author Reply: You just never know about these things! But, yes, I'm sure Tulip has a tremendous memory, hee!

oooo! Lovely!!

Poor Paladin! I know the spirit means well, but as parent, I know he wants his lad, not strange teachings. I'm so glad Alfie is keeping an eye on Pippin :-)

Wonderful as always,Cahtleen!

MEWD!!

Author Reply: Yes, Poor Pad, I'm sure he will be so relieved by the time he makes it all the way to where Pippin is!
Thanks, Pearl!

Love it! Especially the scene with the music making creatures and Pip wondring where it comes from made a beautful, magic picture in my mind.
The name you now picked out for the river is great too!
Look forward to more! :)

Author Reply: I'm glad you could see the pictures in your imagination, then I know I have achieved my goal. Thank you so much Golden, for your ever-present support!
