A Maid Waiting  by Larner 14 Review(s)

Says in a sing song voice...

Someone's going to a rude awakening...

:oD

Very much looking forward to the Lord of Bidwell meeting the King for the first time. Very much indeed. Also looking forward to him being found out for trying to cook the books. We all know it's coming as Aragorn and those around him are no fools.

However Canelmir doesn't know that.

Yes...Very much looking forward to the next chapter indeed!! :D

Author Reply: The ISP from Mordor permitting, the next chapter should be posted on Monday. The tech support claims that we used up all our time for the day, and I'd truly like to know how. Grandson was trying to download a patch allowing him to copy his music from his CDs to his new MP3 player, and had nothing but hassles for the entire time he was online. I got online long enough to post this chapter, then was kicked off; hours later I'm FINALLY able to get back on.

Canelmir will, I suspect, find he has no place with his attitudes and expressed aptitudes, in the new order of the realm. Certainly Aragorn doesn't suffer fools readily.

Interesting conversation between father and son. I hate when a parent expects complete approval on all fronts from a child and is jealous of those that become close to his or her child. Strange. I don't think this gentleman will go very far if something doesn't change.

Author Reply: My husband's ex-wife was terribly jealous of the love their son came to hold for me, I saw, and I always felt sorry for her over that.

No, I doubt Canelmir will do well in the new court of Gondor.

So glad to have your feedback.

Oh dear! It looks as if at least *one* reason Canelmir failed to appear during the War was not simply parsimony, but outright greed and dishonesty. And it looks as though he suffers badly from Lord Denethor's worst failing--pride. It remains to be seen whether he is also a coward. But he's not too intelligent if he thinks to fool the new King with a set of cooked books.

And Ivormil has well and truly fallen: for the King, for the Ringbearer and for Systerien--which is, of course, the one way for him to rise up. Yet he's not taking that into consideration, which is a very Good Thing, and speaks well for him. He's truly thinking of others first for the first time in his life.

Wonder how such a poor example of a father managed to have such a promising son.

Author Reply: One must expect his mother must have been a better example, although you will learn of her in time.

Yes, Ivormil has fallen, and in a way he will be raised up once more.

I have a feeling that Lord Canelmir is NOT going to enjoy his interview with King Elessar, or any of the others he will meet with on his visit to Minas Anor... I have a feeling he will also not be in his position much longer...

Author Reply: I very much suspect you are right, Theresa. He's not done very well so far at proving himself a responsible lord of the realm, has he?
