Ah! What a lovely idea for a fic: More Finrod! More Amarië! More Námo and Irmo! More twins! More everybody! Let's see: Finrod and the twins are -- if I'm counting on my fingers correctly -- second cousins once removed. It'll be interesting to see how those who died as children differ from the older Reborn we've seen so far. Can we bribe you to winkle more details out of Fiondil? ;-) [Apologies, but I can't stop being a (volunteer, occasional, retired) proofreader. In my copy of the Silmarillion (2nd ed. Houghton Mifflin trade paperback), both in the text and in the Index, the twins' names are accented on the *second* syllable: Eluréd, Elurín. (And for what it's worth, it's that way also in the Encyclopedia of Arda.) I'm not an expert, and I'm quite willing to be proven wrong if there's some reason why my Sil is untrustworthy. But you might want to look into it.] Author Reply: Thank you very much for reviewing! I hadn't intended to post this yet and then the "Thanksgiving" story showed up and, well, I guess Lord Námo decided that it was time to get the tale started. :-) I just hope he'll be as kind to me as he has been to Fiondil, and keep telling me what is going on! Ah! I knew I oughtn't proofread on the aftereffects of too much turkey and pumpkin pie! I appreciate your kind and diplomatic words about the placement of the accent marks on the ellyn names. Thank you! I'll pop in a fix them after I get home from work. | |
