Ah--beautiful! I love looking at things that against all odds survive through the ages, and it must have been amazing to make a discovery like that! Good thing they didn't just pitch it!

Author Reply: I'm not quite sure that a book could have survived since Gondolin - but who cares? Elrohir's curiosity meant he had to at least look at the book, which was just as well!

Ah, a very nice vignette, Jay!

It's amazing what hidden treasures one can find in old libraries, isn't it? ;-)

I like how comfortable your Glorfindel is with the brothers, and how he names Elrohir first sometimes. And the thoughtfulness of the young twins, in copying the book, and in adding the "Glorfindel of Imladris", is heart-warming.

Good work!

- Barbara

Author Reply: Thanks - I'm glad you liked this.

I've always written Glorfindel as a friend and confidante to the twins, as well as a father figure. And he's the *only* one who says 'Elrohir and Elladan' - Elrohir loves him for it :)

Jay, I have to say it again, this is simply lovely! Short, sweet and thoroughly enjoyable! Love the part with the spider and the added name at the end. :)

Author Reply: Thank you again, NiRi! When I saw that spider on the shelf I just knew what Elrohir was going to do with it :>)

The added name at the end was a last-minute change, but I'm glad I did it.

There was a name inscribed there, in a round, youthful hand

Oh my, what a wonderful discovery. This is such a unique way to imagine Glorfindel, and the twins' gift was perfect.

Author Reply: Thank you. It was an image of Glorfindel I hadn't considered before either, but it just felt right.
