Only a Second or Two  by Larner 280 Review(s)
DreamflowerReviewed Chapter: 2 on 3/2/2009
LOL! I've often wondered how those who guarded the dead Tree felt about their duty. Was it an honor or a punishment? Well, we know one young guardsman's opeinion now!

Author Reply: Yes, we know THIS Guardsman's opinion indeed.

There may be another reason--they might have chosen the guards according to those who could fit the particular armor. Heh!

Oh my goodness, this is priceless! I can so see a guard feeling this way... guarding a dead tree. It may be an honor, but in reality, how boring! Very amusing!

Author Reply: Glad to give a smile or even a giggle or two.

Queen GaladrielReviewed Chapter: 2 on 3/2/2009
LOL! This poor man! Yes, boring indeed, oh my. I think I would eventually long to look for other work, or run the risk of doing something desperate and stupid just to relieve the tedium.

Author Reply: I agree, my Lady! Yes, he may not be fit to this particular honor, or so I suspect. But I can't think of anything more tedious, and particularly in especially bad weather, whether too hot, too cold, or too damp! Heh@

VilwarinReviewed Chapter: 2 on 3/2/2009
That's blasphemy! LOL It seems as if he needs a lesson in history. This post seems to me like a great honour! I'd like to read another letter when he's a few years older. ;)

Author Reply: I suspect you are right, Vilwarin. He does appear to be quite young to me, too.

LindeleaReviewed Chapter: 2 on 3/2/2009
Ha. The guardsman sounds very young...

If his grandfather were around, he'd give the youngster a stern scolding.

Author Reply: Oh, I'm certain you're right, Lindelea! Heh!

Excellent use of the prompt!

Author Reply: Am so glad you like it, Lindelea! Thanks so much!

The folks on the game show "Suvivor" most likely wish they had a lesson on making fires from Bilbo. I myself just like to tote arround a ranger or two to take care of the small stuff, like that.

Author Reply: Oh, I agree, Grumpy. I'll put my dibs on Aragorn, of course! Although Sam would definitely do well, too.

Thanks so!

Agape4GondorReviewed Chapter: 1 on 3/1/2009
Oh I just love this! I'm sure Sam wasn't the only one who was thankful, on this journey, for the Gaffer's teaching!

Author Reply: I'm certain you are right, Agape! Yes, all would be glad for the learning Sam took upon himself when he was younger!

Queen GaladrielReviewed Chapter: 1 on 3/1/2009
Oh yes, he would, wouldn't he, as he found himself the glue that held the thing together in the end...at least part of it.

I just love your title for this collection, by the way. That really did take maybe twenty seconds to read.

Author Reply: How wonderful to hear from you, my Lady! Yes, our Sam did more than his duty to see all done properly!

Thank you!

And am glad you like the title--I'll try to keep these drabbles, so no one should feel reluctant to read them.

AntaneReviewed Chapter: 1 on 3/1/2009
Yes, many reasons to bless the bond between those three hobbits so closely knit together. Very nice.

Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author Reply: Oh, how true, Antane! Bilbo must have made such a good teacher!
