Trotter  by Dreamflower 291 Review(s)

My dearest Dreamflower,

Worse and worse for poor Hildifons! :( Poor lad! (Except at the very end of course, but *he* doesn't know that!) Even unconsciousness, followed as it will be by such a quick rescue is better than all the abuse he suffered. If Adamanta had ever heard this, it would have broken her heart even worse.

Oh Dreamflower, 'shuddersome' doesn't even begin to cover this chapter! (Although the remark that the Barrow-wights would be worse, later, is right! Eeek!) But this is terrible enough for poor Hildifons! *wants to hug the poor lad* I'm so glad we know he got through it all right (Obviously, or where did the book come from?)

/If I showed my face at Brandy Hall, news would quickly be sent to the Thain by the new Master of Buckland, Marmadoc Brandybuck. I had met him a time or two, and I had no doubt he would find a way to detain me until my father should fetch me home. His folk, I had heard by way of gossip, were already calling him “the Masterful”. No, I had no wish to encounter him./

*chuckles* Ah, Dreamflower, I can just imagine! I do wonder what it would have been like if our Trotter-to-be *had* encountered Marmadoc? One never knows...

Ah, I see, Dreamflower - so Norbert Longbottom is the hobbit for Miss Sackville, is he? I have to say, I don't know whether to be mad with him or pity him - and what relation is Gardenia to Camellia, I wonder? I've been doing a *huge* family tree of hobbits and how they all relate to each other - you know your hobbits have made themselves near enough canon to me. :) I do wonder what she and her Master Longbottom have to do with Otho, Lobelia, and Lotho! Hm...

My dearest Dreamflower,

I have re-read "Trotter" and have decided to inundate you with a number of reviews :D perhaps you will like them, I hope!

I knew those rooms couldn't have been made just for Bilbo, and it just makes so much sense for Hildifons, also, to have retired to Imladris! Why not, after all? :) I am glad Bilbo finally gets the chance to meet his uncle, so to speak!

This was all wonderful and I am sorry to see it end. Like Bilbo, I will probably read it again at some point. Thank you.

Hildifons did a wonderful job on his story with your help of course. I enjoyed this very much and I am certain that a journal like this would have been very comforting to Bilbo at that time in his life.

Poor Hildifons, ill again. I am glad he has the very best place to go to for healing and rest though.

It is so dreadful that Hildifons had to hear about his mother's death after years of not seeing her. I am very glad it was Gandalf that came to give him the news.

I am so glad that Hildifons was able to return to his friends again. It is good to see him happy.
