A Deck of Heroes  by Larner 188 Review(s)
Garnet TookReviewed Chapter: 1 on 12/2/2009
I really loved this. Of course, this should come as no surprise.

Author Reply: Well, of course! Heh! So glad it pleases, Garnet.

Hello Larner,

aha! So that's where he got the idea. Saruman is such a crafty old Slytherin!

Nicely done,

M ;)

Author Reply: Saruman appears to have learned about pipeweed from Gandalf as well, so why not fireworks? Only trust him to see the practical and destructive applications while Gandalf embraces their brilliance and the enjoyment they can bring!

Hello Larner,

how very Pippin! How very sweet!
And how very like Gandalf to pretend he begrudges the compliment (when we all know he loves him really)!

M :)

Author Reply: Yes, Maureen, Gandalf appears to have held great affection for the Tooks! And thanks so for the feedback.

Saruman definitely had a mind of wheels and machines. What a tragedy.

Author Reply: You are so right, Shirebound. Wheels and so-called progress.

Oh, not good! It is so sad that Gandalf's lovely fireworks gave Saruman the wrong ideas!

Author Reply: I see Saruman struggling at times to outdo Gandalf--defintely a touch of insecurity and competitiveness to him. And if he could find a means to use Gandalf's toys, it could prepare him one day for a certain pot at Helm's Deep!

Ah, nice to know that Gandalf is beginning to see that this 'Fool of a Took' has a lot of hidden qualities! He may have sometimes been too impulsive, but he certainly made up for that.

Author Reply: I'm certain Gandalf saw the promise within Pippin, and was most p;eased to see it at work as they traveled. Impulsive, but already seeing where and what help might be needed and dealing wth what he could.

Certainly not a fool by any definition i know - young, impetuous, occasionally thoughtless...... but not a fool. Clever idea this one Larner.

Author Reply: Thank you, Harrowcat. It's fun to do these sometimes.

I always enjoy it when Gandalf contemplates "his hobbits". Dear Pippin. :)

Author Reply: And he certainly had reaont to contemplate these four and Bilbo, didn't he? Heh!

Thanks, Shirebound.
