It's lovely how you evoke the atmosphere of moonlight in this piece.

Author Reply: Oh, I'm so glad you appreciated that, Virtuella! Thanks!

Oh, a young Boromir in his prime! Is it a wonder that the sight mellowed even Denethor's heart?

I often wonder what might have happened had Boromir not died. Aragorn would have had a tough time to be accepted, I guess. Which might be the reason why poor Boromir had to die in the first place. It's really unfair.

What, me, biased? How has *that* thought occurred to you? ;)

Author Reply: Heh! Certainly YOU wouldn't be biased, Soledad! Heh! And I so suspect you are right regarding the obstructions Aragorn would have faced.

Thanks so much!

Just like King Solomon!

A new age has begun. Gondor has a King again, a true King whose judgement is of a different kind (or measure) than that of the stewards.

I'm always glad for Beregond that Aragorn was his judge!

Author Reply: Oh, yes--very much like King Solomon! Indeed a far different King at the beginning of the Fourth Age of the Sun, and one whose reign will undoubtedly be referred to as Gondor's Golden Age. Beregond was very lucky indeed.

Justice, mercy, and wisdom... After a thousand year wait, the King has indeed returned.

Author Reply: And I think all present agreed this was proving a King worth waiting for, Shirebound. Thank you so!

Indeed! Aragorn's wisdom as Elessar would have come as quite a shock to these people-- this particular judgement may have become as legendary as the judgment Solomon made in a similarly sticky situation.

I've always felt he showed a particular genius here.

Author Reply: I do believe you are exactly right, Dreamflower. This judgment must have served as quite the wake-up call, indicating that indeed this was his own Man, and would temper justice with discernment and true mercy.

Thank you so!

That particular question just breaks my heart every time I read it, because it reminds me every time that Boromir, who'd sacrificed everything for his beloved city, would never see it again. That's one death I will never forgive the Professor for, no matter what the significance was plot-wise.

I really, really didn't like the movies, but Sean Bean added layers to Boromir that weren't in The Books. When he speaks those lines in the Lothlórien scene, it makes me weep every time. Thanks for making Aragorn remember the man who kept his city safe for him.

Author Reply: I'm so pleased to have been able to do so, Soledad. It was wonderful to have found a movie-verse moment that does not conflict with book-verse and so work it into this series. And I also want Boromir to be remembered with the honor he deserved!

It's good to know that Aragorn hasn't forgotten what Boromir said back then and that he still remembers him in a fond way. And I like the idea that Eldarion and Elboron both have such a horn now; aside of the practical use of them, it's a great way to remember Boromir.

Author Reply: Yes, Boromir needs his own memorials; plus the Horn of the Heir of the Ruler of Gondor is too wonderful an icon to lose forever!

Thanks so, Kitty!

Very poetic, coming from Denethor! It is easy to see how much he adores his oldest son and how proud he is of him.

Author Reply: There was probably never a time when Denethor didn't expect miracles from Boromir, I'd think. And we do know that Denethor was intellectually supposed to be the equivalent of Aragorn.

Thanks so, Kitty.

"...he saw Boromir’s wide and reckless smile, and was glad."

Beautiful! I love how you connected the memory of Boromir with Elessar approaching the White City and hearing the silver trumpets. It was a memory that was bound to come to mind so often.

Author Reply: I do love that movie-verse moment, and wanted to capture it for this prompt.

Thanks so, Cairistiona!

What a lovely use of that bit of movie-verse dialogue! That conversation could so easily taken place. I love the fact that Aragorn still remembers after all this time-- he would! I'm sure he would!-- and the delight of the two young princes.

And the way Aragorn sees Boromir in Faramir's smile.

Author Reply: I like to think that Aragorn missed Boromir in his own way as much as did Faramir.

Thank you so!
