The Lord of Gifts  by shirebound 16 Review(s)

A lovely look at the relationship between Aragorn and Frodo. I have always loved the trust between them.

“Should you happen to come across a tale about a child who climbed to the top of the bell tower wearing Master Elrond’s best feastday circlet, pretended to be Eärendil until hours past bedtime, was afraid to climb down again, and had to be rescued by Erestor, I can assure you that it is a complete fabrication.”

*giggles* I can just see little Estel doing that! I'm surprised Rivendell was still standing!

Author Reply: I think Aragorn and Frodo must have both been quite exuberant youngsters... yet another thing these two have in common. Thanks, BB! These small moments are such fun to write about.

As I told you before, I really enjoyed this most thoughtful tale. It gives us such an insightful glimpse of Aragorn's and Frodo's friendship.

I'm sure it must have meant the world for Aragorn to be trusted without assurances, and your story showed us just that most touchingly. Well done.

Author Reply: Thank you. It speaks volumes about Frodo's perception, and how Aragorn's inner nature must have shone through, that Frodo believed he was a friend nearly from the beginning.

Worthy of trust, and friendship...two of the rarest and most valuable gifts of all.

Very true! And also two of the main topics of LOTR (in my opinion).

A nice little story that tells us a lot about Frodo and Aragorn and their beginning friendship.

AND ... a funny glimpse into young Estel's "adventures":

“Should you happen to come across a tale about a child who climbed to the top of the bell tower wearing Master Elrond’s best feastday circlet, pretended to be Eärendil until hours past bedtime, was afraid to climb down again, and had to be rescued by Erestor, I can assure you that it is a complete fabrication.”

LOL!!!

Author Reply: It was fun to come up with one of Estel's (many, I'm sure) "adventures"! Being surrounded by so many Big Folk might have seemed quite intimidating to the hobbits, and I like to think that Aragorn would come up with ways to make them more comfortable around him. I'm glad you enjoyed this!

Your view of these two is so very close to my own at this point. Thank you so for this story--one I have a feeling I will reread often!

Author Reply: They're two such very special people, and it's these small moments that can reveal so much. Thank you!

I love these glimpses into the friendship between Aragorn and Frodo and this was well-told, illuminating both of them.

Author Reply: Thank you. I never tire of exploring the growing bond between these two, and ways that might be communicated.

This is such a gentle littl tale, I enjoyed it the first time I read at the Waymeet site and have enjoyed it again.
I do like your Aragorn and your Hobbits, they are believeable charecters.
