The Making of a Ringbearer III: Aweigh  by Henna Gamgee 43 Review(s)
LarnerReviewed Chapter: 9 on 12/22/2012
To be a hero in this manner isn't easy for one as self-effacing as Frodo is, but he does deserve the respect he receives. Lovely images here as we see the generous individual he's become.

Author Reply: I like to think of Frodo doing embarrassingly heroic things. :) Thanks for reviewing.

I am greatly pleased to see a new chapter up! I love that Frodo is still embarrassed at being called a hero. I also got a kick out of Merry's first look at "grown up" Estella!

Yay for productive airplane rides!

Author Reply: Few things give me greater pleasure than embarrassing Frodo. ;)

"How was the Fair? Did you bring back any news?"

What a perfect way to change the subject. I'm so happy whenever I see an update from you. :)

Author Reply: Frodo strikes me as the type to be uncomfortable with this sort of attention. Thanks for reviewing!

It's good to see Merry coming into his own, and Pippin pretending to be Gandalf. Glad he finally accepted that even Wizards will use dish cloths when it's needed.

Author Reply: I love the idea of Pippin being fascinated by Gandalf. :) Thanks for reviewing!

This is so sweet! I love Pippin pretending to be Gandalf!

And I am glad that Merry and Sam are finding their way into friendship...

But Frodo needs to watch out pushing things too fast!

Author Reply: Yes, poor Frodo, he might get sick if he's not careful! Heh heh. ;)

Thanks for reviewing!

Poor Frodo, in so much pain. But he's surrounded by many folks who love and want to help him, and that makes me happy.

“If I was really Gandalf, I would magic you back to your bed.”

Awwww, that's so sweet. Thank you for another chapter of this delightful story.

Author Reply: Alas, I must be cruel to Frodo in order to find reasons to smother him with comfort. ;) Thanks for reviewing!

Everyone is so in character, and the interactions are so appealing. Poor little Hob, feelings so guilty, just like Merry. This is such a pleasure to read.

Author Reply: Thank you! I'm glad you're enjoying.

Aha! A good dose of H/C for our beloved Frodo. I laugh to see Merry chased away from the stove for letting the porridge burn, and rejoice to see how seriously Pippin's taking his instructions to make certain Frodo rests.

Author Reply: There is never enough Frodo h/c. That's my position and I'm sticking to it! ;)

This is such a sweet chapter, all of them doing their best to help one another.

Merry really is learning. Growing up is hard, and he's done it faster than most his age, whether by temperament or by his station in life or both. But Frodo's confidence in him is well-placed as we know.

Pippin is so cute, too, falling asleep on Frodo like that. Aww...

Author Reply: Thank you! I'm finding Merry a bit of a challenge to write, but I do like him.

“I wish I could see Mr. Frodo, an’ say I’m sorry,” the wretched Hob went on. “My tummy thinks that might make it feel better, if ye follow me.”

That's one of the sweetest things I've ever read. :)

Dear Merry, at least he's unburdened himself. And Frodo is eating well, and everyone is being taken care of. *happy*

Author Reply: Aww, thanks. :)
