The Making of a Ringbearer III: Aweigh  by Henna Gamgee 43 Review(s)
LarnerReviewed Chapter: 4 on 5/22/2011
Poor Merry--his words were anything but politic, and it does appear that Friday the thirteenth is happening all over the region of the Hill, doesn't it?

Mortal peril, eh? Beware of small children bolstered by hopes to effect hopeless rescues, then! Heh!

Author Reply: Heh heh, I think I'm almost done tormenting the Hill residents, at least. :)

Ah, so all will be staying in the neighborhood of the Hill. Hope that Sam and Merry make it up soon!

Author Reply: Oh, they will eventually. :)

Oh my goodness, what a day! I'd take one of my stressful Mondays over poor Frodo and the Gamgees' day, and no mistake.

Author Reply: Hmm, maybe I should have made that chapter take place on a Monday?

Oh goodness! Frodo is really having a time of it, isn't he? I wonder who will be in "mortal peril"?

I like the idea of seeing Sam at this age making a mistake in the garden-- he's still young and learning here, and I can see him getting so caught up in what he was doing with the weed to forget everything else! Of course, he's not likely to do it again!

I am really enjoying this!

Author Reply: Yup, Sam is definitely young and still learning. I'm glad you're enjoying! :)

Oh dear! Poor Sam and poor Merry! Of course, Merry is being cranky and sullen, but if he'd just found the right sort of branch, he might not have gotten so annoyed with Sam. Of course, that would have made for a rather dull chapter, LOL!

Frodo really does have his hands full, doesn't he? And now a Pippin-with-a-cold added to the mix...

I love your version of Sam's family, especially the little nephew Hob-- he's a cutey!

Author Reply: Thanks for your comments; I love your reviews. :)

Frodo smiled. “Pretty well, thanks,” he replied, and shook Hob’s little hand. “It is a pleasure to meet you.”

That fairly finished Hob, and he shrank back behind Sam, blushing furiously.

That's purely adorable. I enjoy your chapters very much.

Author Reply: Thanks!

Saw your story here, and I enjoy stories that include Sam, but had somehow missed your earlier ones, so I went back and read Anchored before starting this one. I enjoyed Anchored and am glad you began Aweigh. I look forward to taking the journey with you.

Author Reply: Glad you found it! Thanks for reviewing.

Foolish, moody adolescents! Poor Sam and Merry at this point.

Author Reply: Moody adolescents are rather fun to write, though. :)

Oh dear! Poor Merry! And poor Frodo, trying to find out what the trouble is.

I like the way you show Sam as being a bit uncertain and insecure here as well. After all, he's still a tween as well, and he's only two years older than Merry. Sometimes people forget that, and make him seem like an adult compared to Merry.

BTW: I'd like to upload "Adrift" and "Anchored" to my Nook e-reader! (And this one when it's done, of course!)

Author Reply: Ooh, an e-reader? Cool! *feels official* :)

Poor Merry, I hope he can unburden himself to Frodo soon. And Sam can be *such* a good and wise friend, if allowed to be.

Author Reply: Sam is definitely becoming a wise friend!
