That was a treat!! Not a chapter that I expected and that makes it all the more delightful. Nice to see some redemption for Finwe, I feel for him in this chapter. Is it 'canonical' that Miriel was returned to life quite so soon, I fear my knowledge on that is only from wikipedia ;) ... Anyway that brings a thought to my mind - would not the presence of Miriel have been enough to dissuade Feanor from the doom that he was about to unleash? The valar may not have expected the kinslaying, but if they wanted Feanor to stay in aman and still avoid the thrall-accusation, Miriel seems like a great bet, pity they were not skilled in subtle manipulations at this point. Thank you for this chapter Fiondil, you do a wonderful job, as always. Author Reply: Hi ninqwestilmen. Glad you enjoyed it. As for Míriel returning to life... some 3100 solar years separates the 'death' of Míriel from the death of Finwë. At that time she was released into Vairë's care, never to walk among the Elves until the Remaking. Peraps Míriel's presence would have changed things for Fëanáro, but not necessarily. And, of course, we'll never know. We only know what did happen and Míriel had no part in it. Thanks for reading and reviewing. I really appreciate it. | |
