In Darkness Bound  by Fiondil 11 Review(s)
SunnyReviewed Chapter: 60 on 3/28/2011
It seems that those who think that someone who is insane also has to be raving and behaving irrationally. That's not necessarily so - and Fëanáro is acting quite logically and rationally, and is certainly able to plan quite well (and is more dangerous for that); it is just that the basis for his logic is twisted in some places. So when something pops up that might lead away from what he perceives as the straight road towards the Silmarils, and his revenge, he just goes ... off.

I am not surprised at Eönwë's reaction here - that Oath must have been horrible for him to record.

Author Reply: Hi Sunny. You're correct. Fëanáro is acting quite rationally and we will see him continuing to do in subsequent chapters, at least until we reach Alqualondë. Certainly his logic is twisted in some ways, and that's where the danger lies, because you have no idea what will set him off.

Even Melkor never uttered such a vile oath, so, as Eönwë points out, it was worse than when he had to record Melkor's lies. He'll recover though, though he will be very unhappy for a time with Fëanáro and the Noldor.

Thanks for reading and reviewing. I really appreciate it.
