I kept hearing what a wonderful story this was and, lo! the day I went to load it into my Nook was the day you finished it!

Fortune smiled, and so did I. What a wonderfully delightful story. I was not expecting such a serious turn, but you took me on a very long ride and whoosh! I laughed, and cried and omg did I cry!

I'm not the kind to get teary eyed over fanfic, but you touched on oh-so-many heart strings with this. I wondered from the moment Haldir and his brothers arrived in the Age of the Trees WHAT you were going to do and how you would accomplish it. As the Doriath episodes progressed I was on tenterhooks with speculation. Until that final chapter!

All of Celeborn's sighing and mental moaning completely slipped my mind until that last chapter. And Beleg! I was almost thinking either he would not show or it would turn out to be Haldir (which would not have been a good choice in my opinion) but you did me one better! His son! He could die in peace now.

The epilogue had me giggling and smiling and very glad to have read this opus!

Thank you for all your hard work, your sweat, blood and tears to put this piece together and put it up for others to finally stumble upon and read.

Author Reply: I apologize for taking so long to reply to your review. I have been drowning in RL lately...

I am so happy you enjoyed this story so much! Thank you for your compliments and your comments! I had so much fun with the characters in this story. I'm thrilled that you giggled through the epilogue. It was long tough story to write and reviews like yours make it all worthwhile.

Thank you so very much for reading and reviewing this story and for being moved to laughter and tears in all the right places.

Ellie, this story just totally absorbed me, and left me crying, laughing, and wanting more with every chapter. I was awed by the concept when I first started to read it, and you definitely carried it through with talent, creativity and imagination. I truly loved your characterization of Haldir and his brothers and friends, and your original characters were just wonderful. I wondered when I realized what Taurion's name meant if it was he who was Beleg Strongbow, and I liked how you strung that out to the very end of the story.

One of the things that really struck me was the marvelous way you described Lord Ulmo's incarnation when he interacted face to face with Haldir. I could see him in my mind, and, from now on, I think your description will always color my mental image of the Vala when I read about him in other tales.

The time and effort you have invested in this story was time well spent, in my opinion. I am so very grateful that you persevered, even when things got frustrating and research and writing were hard. This is now listed in my top 10 favorite Tolkien fanfictions, and be assured that I will come back and re-read it often. :-) I will be recommending your story to my friends, as well.

Oh, and the epilogue was a real treat! Thank you for tying the beginning and end together so very well!

Well done! :-)

Author Reply: I'm am so glad you enjoyed this tale and took the item to tell me so. I put a lot of time and energy and research into it, trying to be sure I had details of history and culture and behavior as best I could achieve them.

Ulmo was an unexpected surprise in this story. I had some of Fiondil's perceptions of Ulmo in mind as well as descriptions of him from Tolkien when I wrote him. The sea is an ever-changing, fickle thing and I think that the Lord of Waters would have been just as capable of a wide range of emotions and not take himself too seriously and yet be a dangerous character as well. Water wears down all things no matter how mighty and strong and yet it conforms in shape to all that it touches. I'm sure Ulmo would have been glad to work his way into helping Haldir and been glad of the opportunity once called upon.

I am deeply honored that you have put this story in your top 10. Your comments made my week. Thank you so very very much!!!!

Ellie this has been an absolutely brilliant story and I have eagerly awaited it chapter by chapter and never once was disappointed.:) I was surprised and pleased to discover the identity of Beleg. The epilogue was a very fitting conclusion and the reunion with Celeborn moving. I also liked seeing Galadriel feeling for once completely in the dark with what had happened.:)

Author Reply: I am so glad you have enjoyed and have stuck with it at JFA and here. I had so much fun and frustration writing this tale, but it is all worth while when I hear that others have enjoyed it so much.

I felt they all needed to get back together once again and figure it all out together. It must have been difficult for Celeborn to keep Galadriel from learning what he knew. It would have been awfully difficult to explain anyway.

Thank you so very much for reading and reviewing and enjoying this tale!

And oh my goodness what tales there will be to tell - and how long it will take to tell them - a good thing that they have all the time in the world!

Author Reply: Sorry for the delay in my reply. I have been very busy lately.

I think they will need that much time with so many tales to tell and so many perspectives to tell from.

Thank you so very much for reading and reviewing and enjoying this tale!

A very fitting ending to a fascinating story - I am very taken with the idea of Haldir being his hero's father! And I actually feel quite sorry for Celeborn having to cope with knowledge of Haldir et al for so long that, of course, they would not have themselves.

Author Reply: Thank you so very much! I had the ending planned pretty much from the beginning. It just made sense to me somehow. I'm so glad I was able to pull it off. I pity Celeborn as well for what he knew and could not say. It is a testament to Celeborn's character though that Haldir and his men felt so strongly about him twice.

Thank you so very much for reading and reviewing!

I've really enjoyed this story. It was delightfully different and intriguing. Tolkien nd time travel doesn't sound like it should work but you did really well with this.

I liked the twist with Beleg before his death. And imagine explaining this now to everyone. Oh dear! They obviously thought he was babbling on his deathbed and it was all true.

Great story. :)

Author Reply: Thank you so very much! I'm relieved the story worked as well as it did. It certainly was a challenge! He was so worried about getting to meet Beleg and I thought it only fitting the way things turned out for him. I'm sure Beleg, Mablung, and Celeborn were all suitably shocked when the future unfolded as he said it would.

Thank you so very much for reading, reviewing, and enjoying this tale!

That is a satisfying end to this story. There is nothing better than to sit together at the end of an adventure and discuss all the events and see the view point of everyone. In this case with thousands of years between the major events it will be something to occupy them for years to come. It will make great good-night stories for the little ones, since it had a happy ending.

Author Reply: Thank you very much! I felt they needed to meet up again in Valinor and, yes, their stories would have been grand as Haldir predicted they would be.

Thank you so very much for reading, reviewing and enjoying!

Nice ending. It's good to see them all together again. :)

Author Reply: Thank you very much! I thought it would be nice to have them all meet again and figure things out.

Thanks so very much for reading and reviewing!

Bravo! What a fun story. I am so glad you struggled through the logistics. It shows. Beautifully written. Thank you!!!

And you have left me almost speechless as well. What an amazing story! Your Elves are so vivid and believable, I love how they also have their flaws and primal instincts just like we humans have.

Author Reply: Thank you very much! I'm so pleased you enjoyed it! The are far more fun when they have flaws and urges and a good sense of humor.

Thanks so very much for reading and reviewing!
