Imrahil's Daughters  by Lialathuveril 103 Review(s)

She's falling for him inspite of herself. Lovely! Now to see how she comes to realize that... I have this image of everything going wildly pear shaped when Eomer goes to Imrahil to ask for Gliwen's hand - can't wait to see what you have planned. :-)

Author Reply: Hello Lyana,
oh yes, she's definitely falling for him - and he for her. It could all be so simple really, if it weren't for evil authors ;-) More soon, though it will take a while to resolve the situation.

I love that the attempt to turn him off via the local specialties didn't work. The belt sounds lovely, and completely proper to her. As for the fudging of the reason for the honey-moon--how temperate he tries to keep his language! Heh! And she just keeps digging herself in deeper and deeper! Poor thing!

Author Reply: Hello Larner,
I did once write a oneshot where Amrothos serves Eomer octopus cooked in its own ink (a Spanish speciality), but I thought for this one I'd go against expectations. And there will be more mead related customs coming up in a later chapter ;-)

My goodness. You fit a truckload of stuff, all of it great, in this chapter. I love the belt!

Author Reply: Thank you! I got the inspiration for the belt from browsing through an old book on Medieval fashion. Glad to hear you liked it!

Oooopppssss! I meant Linda Hoyland's review, of course. Sorry, Dear!

Author Reply: No problem ;-)

Oh, dear. I believe that I posted a review for this chapter with the last one. I hope it is not too much of a spoiler for someone reading one piece at a time. While I am here, tho; I agree with Larner. This is shaping up like a delightful Shakespearean Romantic Comedy!

Author Reply: The kind of Romantic Comedy is what I had in mind really, just a bit of fun with misunderstandings, pretending to be somebody else and a happy end eventually!

Oh dear, Lothiriel/Gilwen, what a mess you are in and you are starting to fancy Eomer! Just delightful like a Shakespearean comedy!I eagerly await more.

Author Reply: Hello Linda,
yes, I think it's dawning on her that just trying to survive those three days that he's in Dol Amroth is not a good long-term strategy! And that kind of light-hearted romantic tale is exactly what I'm aiming for.

Lotherial, pretending to be Gliwen, pretending to be Lotherial. Victor,Victoria, anyone? Eomer seems more relaxed and comfortable in the presence of a "mere beekeeper", eh? I wonder if he suspects something, and is just playing along, or if he really believes her for now. I suspect that the man who had faced down legions of orcs and fields of battlefield gore would not let a little squishy seafood deter him. I wonder, tho. What would happen if he really does believe they are two different girls, and asks the Papa for GLIWEN'S hand? Interesting possibilities await!
Also, I do like the symbolism of a belt made from materials of the Mark adorned with pearls from Dol Amroth. That is how her future turned out. On one of the Appendix disks from Mr. Jackson's Two Towers DVD, actress Miranda Otto tells us how much she liked a lovely metal hip belt on one of Eowyn's dresses. I am picturing that one as I read about the craftsman's wares.

Author Reply: Hello Demeter,
you're probably right about a warrior like Eomer not being deterred by a bit of seafood - although the jellyfish salad would certainly have done it for me! And the next chapter will be from Eomer's point of view, so will answer some of your questions. But as you said, there's lot of different possibilities.

And I have to check out that appendix you mentioned. The films really had some very good costumes.

I think she is learning that Eomer is not to be trifled with. A bit more perceptive than she first realized. Not all lust, huh? *g*

I was so glad to see this next chapter. Thanks for your perseverance.

Author Reply: Hi Agape,
well, you can't really blame her for that first impression, can you ;-D Of course that doesn't make things any easier for her, but then I believe that characters have to earn their happy ends.

A delightful and delicious chapter which leaves me wondering however this muddle will be sorted out. As well the Rohirim don't have two wives or Eomer might try to marry both "sisters!!

Author Reply: Hello Linda,
now that would be wonderful twist to the story! You're tempting me to have them elope to Harad, where such things might be possible ;-D

Eomer continues to keep her off balance, which is to the good, I suspect. I wonder how long she'll try to keep up the story, and what will precipitate the truth? Love the description of the meal so far--it would help keep the Rohirrim off balance as well! Heh!

Author Reply: Hi Larner,
I'm afraid this Lothiriel is not one to give up easily. A good character trait really, except when you're running in the wrong direction! As for the food, there will be more coming up from the culinary arsenal of the 'Jolly Jellyfish'.
