| This makes me feel very warm and cozy, as any piece about Rivendell and hobbits should! What a wonderful friendship arose between Elrond and Bilbo, and I like your take on it very much indeed. | Awww. I don't wonder that Gandalf (and now Elrond) have a soft spot for hobbits. So do I! ...and various and sundry others, who write delectable hobbity stories for the consumption of such as myself. I am confused, however -- how is this movie, versus bookverse? It has been too long since I read The Hobbit, and I'm not sure how they differ at Rivendell. I do know that Bilbo calls Elrond kind as summer. Or does he? Now I'm truly confused and going to seek out some chocolate for consolation. Author Reply: Awwww, thank you. Gentle hobbit tales will always be first in my heart (and pen). This is movie-verse because in the books (LOTR), Elrond is always referred to as "Master Elrond". In the movie, it's "Lord Elrond". I have no idea why PJ chose to make this change. | lovely moment between Elrond and Bilbo. This scene I could imagine in the film. Sadly it was not there but to read it now was just as satisfying. And now we know why Elrond is called Master...thank for this lovable little story. Lai Author Reply: Thank you so much! I got to thinking about how Elrond is called 'Master' all through the books LOTR, but 'Lord" in the films. It was fun imagining this scene between these two. | |
