As usually excellent writing. But I found it hard to grasp the parts about Thranduils braindamages and the quick conversation by Elrohir and Thranduil. It might be due to that English is not my native language. I read the reviews and those parts of the story back and forth a couple of Times' and caught the subtletities at last.I guess you wanted to be descreete as a part of the atmosphere around Thranduil as hes a passionate and somewhat imposing man to all in his house😄.
Noruil! I wonder what will happen to him now- will Thranduil treat him as a week, misunderstood, mislead youth which he is ofcourse.Or... Will he be treated as a criminal.. which he also have become with his meddling with Manadien. All will become clearer to uS with time hehe! Thank you for makin my day as Im currently home with a longdragging flu😊

Author Reply: I intended for the part about Thranduil's injury to be confusing, as it was confusing to him and it was in his POV. So it's completely understandable that it was hard to follow! :)

. All will become clearer to uS with time hehe! More time than I intended, but yes. :)

Wow. As usual, Wow! Definitely worth the wait, this chapter!

There is so much I loved, and so much to continue to be tense about...

One of the things that struck me most as I was reading is that I love how single-minded Legolas and Thranduil are on the subject of magic rings. The two of them saying "destroy it" so definitively without having discussed it together beforehand was a beautiful way to show their agreement.

Almost all of Thranduil's speeches move me (I desperately wish I could write dialogue like you!), but this one, the whole paragraph ending with: "But I will not, ever, employ the power of the Enemy.”

That gave me chills. Of the best kind.

Thranduil is one of my favorite characters precisely because he was the only one able to maintain his realm without magic devices (beyond the inherent "magic" of being elves), and you are doing an amazing job portraying the fortitude and strength of character such a task would require.

Oh dear, that was quite the cliffie! I suspect that this is not likely to end well (not that it's in any way "good" at all, with Aewen cut down like that.)
Aewen was a silly little twit, but she certainly didn't deserve getting killed.

At least the ring was destroyed, it was probably Manadhien's most dangerous weapon!

Hehehe! Agreed!

I'm so sorry the cliff hanger went on for so long!

Oh my goodness! Aewen... poor, poor Legolas, things are not getting easier for him.

Author Reply: poor, poor Legolas, things are not getting easier for him.

No, definitely not. I'm so sorry this has waited this long!

Ay, Ay, Ay, Ay, no, no, no...that is, my very eloquent review...You better update fast, you are going to kill me! You will responsible of my premature demise.
Thanks for your concern, I'm back to work now (meaning reading at work) My sickness, surgery and recovery were faster than your update, it is impossible, but happened.

Well, everybody is there now, even the twins and a Wizard. And Lindomiel has to be in the wrong place in the wrong moment.

Author Reply: You better update fast, you are going to kill me! I wish I could have and I am so sorry! Truly. The next chapter will be up soon.

Long wait but WOW! So much heartache and joy! I have to say there were light parts but I knew that you'll drop heavy stuff. So I was right that it was Noruil. I wonder why he did such thing. Is it because he's annoyed with Legolas and Anastor recent positive behavior towards the royal fam or is it because there's a threat against his family or that he has part of it for a long time? Curious!

The heavy parts are truly heartbreaking and intense. Thranduil's reactions towards the whole happening to him and the news he's hearing now is definitely painful to read. It must be difficult to everyone around him. I remember watching the movie "Still Alice" and I imagined it to be like that. You know, someone known to be strong and knowledgeable suddenly starts losing or having problems with memory. Must be tough! The last part is very intense and somehow that made me scroll and check if it's so bad that I'd skip through some of it till im ready. Anyway, I was definitely afraid for Lindomiel and that you had someone else hurt or killed was a shocker. At first I thought it was maidhein and then it was Aewen. Is it so bad that I truly felt relieved? haha! I guess I never liked Aewen but to see Legolas reaction after it was just sad. I remember when you said it wont be her who legolas would be with but I didnt expect this kind of scenario. It's weird though that he didnt even recognize her at first when he saw the group joining in but his mom & Galithil registered at once. Or maybe you just didnt want to write her name at once. This will definitely make an impact on legolas and on how he'll look at Manadhein. Will he be vengeful and consumed by anger or will he catch himself and do the right actions instead of negative emotion fueled ones?

I'm curious on how you intend to tie everything in. I just hope you don't take out Lindomiel just yet. It will be too much for Legolas and Thranduil to handle. I guess, it would bring about too many emotions to handle that the emphasis on each might be minimized & wont have much impact. I'm also curious on how Legolas or anyone for that matter will help lindomiel. Will noruil try to help that hopefully he'll do something right? Will someone come to notice? How will Lindomiel handle it? Hope she fights well and wins though I doubt she'll be unscathed both physically & emotionally.

Nice that there are some good and fun snippets - spider-mice story, fun banter among cousins and even POVs like when Legolas tried to make sense of having a magic ring as a wedding ring or the twins impression of Thranduil now that their adults.

Over all it's an amazing chapter albeit short as compared to your previous ones. I'm looking forward to stories regarding tulus, glilavan & engwe. There should be something in there for engwe too. Also of the reason behind Noruil's treachery, recovery stories from different characters - thranduil & his guards, and the aftermath stories esp from legolas, Dollion's family & the guests from Imladris. Oh and also I wish there was a place where you inserted a happier interaction among the heirs; would be nice to see their reactions to the spider-mice story.

Well you have a lot of things to write. I'm eagerly waiting and hope it's not a very long wait. :)

Author Reply: Long wait but WOW! You thought that was a long wait! I feel so bad!!!

So I was right that it was Noruil. Yes!

I wonder why he did such thing. You will see soon.

Is it so bad that I truly felt relieved? haha! I guess I never liked Aewen but to see Legolas reaction after it was just sad. Hehe! No, it's not bad. She wasn't a terribly likeable character, but Legolas still loved her.

As for what happens next, that you can soon see for yourself.

When you said that things were not done yet, you weren't kidding! If anything, it looks as if things are even worse than before. If Aewen is dead, or even if she is not, her parents would have felt the wound to her hora and will have reacted to it. Galithil is unconscious and out of the fight for now.

Legolas is stuck between a rock and a hard place. On one hand he needs to follow Manadhien and Lindomiel and see if he can rescue his mother before something bad happens, or the other hand he needs to make sure that Thranduil is protected and prevented from getting up and trying to rescue Lindomiel himself, Noruil needs to be taken in custody as he is a traitor at this point and Legolas needs to check that Aewen is really dead. And Legolas is also unarmed at this point. Yikes! If someone does manage to come into the family complex and help, Legolas must then escape Tureden and Hallion to chase after the females. I see a chase all over the mountain much like when Legolas was chasing Fuilin and the others that night.

I can see one way of chasing Manadhien without returning to the cave entrance but I will wait on your answer to this "locked room" mystery. Hopefully Mithrandir and the twins are on the green and they will consider helping to capture Manadhien again. Thoughts of Lindomiel being dragged off to Dol Gondur is not helping my anxiety.

Author Reply: When you said that things were not done yet, you weren't kidding! I wasn't, but I bet you think I was by now. I'm so sorry to let this go for so long!

I love all your speculation. You are absolutely right about all Legolas has to manage. As to how he does it, that I won't respond to here.

Oh, what a cliff hanger!

The new laptop is still going well, so I can still write a coherent review, I hope.

I'm wondering what hold Manadhien has over Noruil. It must be something big to persuade someone to free you from a cell where you can't hurt them!

Enjoying the family interactions again. Galithil is such a loveable character, with his teasing. But I fear that Hallion will be forced to prove his worth with a blade and bow in more than just a contest soon.

At least it seems it was simple to destroy the ring, after last chapter's worry about it.

"The idea that such a thing should be in my realm…" Oh, he is going to be mad when he discovers what Bilbo used inside his stronghold to free those dwarves...

Poor Thranduil. I can't imagine how scary that must be to not be able to do those things and not being prepared for it...at least it is only temporary for him.

And then the ending. Not only has she escaped, but she's killed Aewen, hurt Galithil badly and now has Lindomiel and Legolas is trapped in the sitting room. What a cliffhanger that is. Hopefully Lindomiel will put up more of a fight than she imagines... and I hope Galithil awakens to get them out of there soon. Or one of the rest of the family returns to help him.

I'm so worried for poor Lindomiel. I hope you won't be leaving us worrying about her for as long as your last chapter, I don't know if I can take it.

Author Reply: I am so sorry I made it a cliff hanger now. I meant it to last a week and it's been over a year. I hate that.

Oh my gosh, what a cliffhanger! Although, there were worse places you could have cut it off, so thanks for not doing that XD

Poor Legolas, I bet he's going to feel immensely guilty that the key wasn't on him, even though he wouldn't have suspected the one who stole it from him. Bad enough considering who just died (I was worried for a second that it was Maidhien), but I can't imagine how he will recover if his mother dies. What in the world can he do now?? Waking Thranduil to open the door doesn't seem like an option, and rushing to the green to get help, while possible, could be far too slow. His best hope may be for Galithil to come to quickly to open the door. I can't wait to see what you have planned.

Also, it is interesting to see Manadhien finally show a twinge of regret that she killed an innocent, someone who never raised a weapon against her. I still can't say I feel any pity for her, but maybe it'll be enough for her to make a mistake and no one else will die.

I can hope, right?

Author Reply: It was a horrible cliff hanger that I intended to have last for less than a week, not a over a year. I feel really bad about that. Sincerely.

As for what Legolas does next, you will not have to wait to see that much longer, but I will not spoil it here.

So, Noruil. I guessed it had to be someone Legolas trusted, but I wasn't sure who. I assume she had some hold over him. Is Aewen dead? I'm guessing yes, but we'll see.

For me, the most interesting parts of this chapter were watching Thranduil deal with his injury, and seeing Legolas rise to his adult responsibilities, which changes his relationship to his father. That kind of injury is frustrating, and Thranduil is not the most easy going elf in the best of circumstances, so this must be making him furious. You show that in his temper with Lindomiel. Legolas is brave to challenge that, but he's also right. That scene was tense and really engaging as Legolas and Thranduil both struggle.

I took great satisfaction in Manadhien not getting her ring back. You do a good job of complicating our picture of her, but not enough to make me stop despising her. If she waned my sympathy, she shouldn't have gloated.

I suspect Lindomiel is not the helpless little lady that Manadhien might think she is. Go, Nana! Kick ass.

Author Reply: Wow, it has been a long time. :( So no long that no one whose reviews I answer are even going to remember what prompted their comments. But answer I will, just the same, because I don't feel like I can get back into this without doing so, and I want to get back into this. :)
