Very sad. And the Twins are going to feel all kinds of guilt when they find out (at least I hope so). I think Demeter d's analysis of Elrond and how he could be "kind as summer" (I always loved that phrase) is probably very true. Sometimes only through suffering great anguish and tragedy do people learn compassion for others.

Author Reply: they will feel sorry, but too late this time. Elrond will have to give up comletely to be able to return. Curious? Then I´m glad to see you at my next updates. LOL. Thanks for reviewing, Fiondil. You know how much I appreciate it. Lai

Only children have the power and the will to wound a parent in this way. Ignoring his pain, the twins have punished Elrond for years for the loss of their mother. Elladan's actions are unconscionable and only a miraculous intervention is going to save Elrond and re-unite his family. It's a riveting story Lai, and I'm looking forward to your next update.

Author Reply: thank you so much. I´m happy that you are taken with my story. You are right; only children can do so much pain with the chance of forgiving afterwards. Elrond will be no exeption albeit with a be guiding from outside, I fear. Thank you so much for a most appreciated reiew, Semmley. Lai

About a hundred twenty years or so from the time of this story, Elrond will be described by the omniscient narrator of "The Hobbit" as being venerable, wise, and "as kind as summer". In order to get from his spirit slowly slipping away from his body in grief, to that point, something drastic will have to happen. I think that I agree. It will have to be some outside force. I think that not even Glorfindel will be able to reach the boys right now. It will be interesting to see how that happens!

Author Reply: you are right something drastic will have to happen and it will. Glorfindel and even the twins have no longer the power. I so like the description of Elrond being "as kind as summer". All is said with this statement. There is much work ahead to bring him to this point. Thank you for reviewing, demeter d. I really appreciate it. Lai

All certainly have reason to be concerned. Now, to find the twins and get them home on the double!

Author Reply: first to find them and hopefully they are willing to come home. They have their own problems right now. Thanks for your review, Larner. Lai

Poor Elrond,
I think I feel sorry for the twins now. I for one would not want to be in their shoes when Glorindel catches up to them...

Can't wait for the next chapter.

Author Reply: they have made the right decision not being at home right now. Glorfindel is not really amused, yet he will sorely need them. Thank you so much for reviewing, eliza. Lai

Definitely a reason for them all to feel grief. Elladan needs to leave the anger behind.

Author Reply: he has to see reason first, otherwise true healing will not come. Thanks for an apprciated review, Larner. Lai

Terrible to see these two they love descending into the deeps as they are.

Author Reply: to see it and being unable to help. We all know these feelings, I guess. Thank you for reviewing, Larner. Lai

Elrond's house was a refuge for all who fought the dark. I am sure that there must have been many times when he put on the mask of the perfect host, to be strong for those who came to him for counsel. I agree, though, it would not do for him to lose himself and have nothing left but the mask! And now, the lads run off yet again without confronting the real issues they face. Now what?

Author Reply: now what, right! Who can help now? The important thing is now to not let Elrond lose himself. Not an easy task, as Glorfindel will find out. Thanks for reviewing, demeter. I really appreciate it! Lai

OH, MY GOODNESS! That was indeed upsetting! And even if the orcs were immortal like the Elves from which the first ones were made, THAT was not the act of a sane person! "So, you finally "got" the very one who hurt your mother. That means the obsessive orc-hunting is now done, right? (Hmm, no, I thought not!)I agree that the Twins were much like sons for Glorfindel. He would have no trouble with correcting them if he felt they needed it. Now, to see how you write them out of THIS mess!

Author Reply: I will get help to get the boys out of this mess but from a side neither Glorfindel nor Elrond will expect and a few hard words need to be spoken. This I can already promise. Thank you so much for your review, demeter d. Lai

What a sad chapter. I feel sorry for Elrohir, torn between brother and father. That's a terrible position to be placed in and Elladan is being selfish and uncaring of anything or anyone but himself. He really needs a reality check. I hope Glorfindel is the one to give it to him... again and in spades.

Author Reply: Elladan will get his reality check, Fiondil but from a direction he would never expect. Elrohir is really not to envy and this time he will pack back his brother, I promise. Thank you so much for a most appreciated review. Lai
