What an amazing treat visiting that library would be! Cool little story!

That first review was long enough, but I had one more observation. That is a very authentic picture of Faramir. He may have been considered by some to be a dreamer, but he was also a respected, capable military leader, and an able administrator who not only ruled his city and land in the troubled days cleaning up after the war, but became the Prince who rebuilt his own domain to its former glory. He had a love and appreciation for beauty. But he also had the practical ability to manage this world. Well done!

Author Reply: Thank you, i'm pleased you liked this glimpse of Faramir.

The autumn forest pictures on the link do very much make me think of Rivendell. "...your people live in spring or high summer..." Perhaps in the Undying Lands, or in Rivendell or Lothlorien at their primes. But by the time we first see Rivendell in "The Hobbit", it has already begun to feel like Autumn. I think the saying, "you can't go home again", refers to the fact that the people at home will be growing and changing, just as you do. Home will still be home, but it will have evolved. I think that for Arwen, as long as her brothers and grandfather were still there, some of home will still be there too.
It would be nice to think that her children could have seen at least some of what the valley had once been. I think I may have some sense of what it might have been like for Arwen. My Father's Mother was the last of my Grandparents to leave this world. If she had lived another month, I think she would have turned ninety five. The day of her funeral, my Aunt, her only daughter, told all of the family to stop by Grandma's house after the cemetery. She and my Dad and their brother, my Uncle, handed out many of Grandma's small possessions to the Grand and Great-Grandchildren. While most of the big furniture was still in place, and the house was full of cousins, it still felt EMPTY. There was something very palpable, missing. I had no doubt that day that she had no unfinished business to keep her there, she was indeed, "beyond this world".

Author Reply: Thank you for your much appreciated review and for sharing these memories. I think Autumn came to Rivendell when Celebrian left.

Indeed, I could see these two now less active Rangers taking an opportunity to greet the beauty of the early morning. I enjoyed Faramir's comment about how spiders were likely intended to be in our Creator's original Music. The Arda we live in is indeed Marred. Even so, there are the beauties you describe, for sensitive souls like Faramir who will look for them.

Author Reply: Thank you so much. I think we have to seek out beauty in this imperfect world.

This is lovely. I have often wondered, if when the royal couple did go north to stay in Annuminas for periods of time, they ever visited Rivendell. After all, her brothers and Celeborn still lived there, and others of the household who did not sail with her Father and Galadriel. I suspect, though, that it might have been a bit hard for both of them. It would stir memories of those they did not expect to see again, before the breaking of the world at least.
I have long thought that Faramir and Elrond ought to have spent some time together after the war. Yes, there would have time when Elrond came for Arwen's wedding. I believe it would also have been good if Faramir could have also visited Elrond in HIS home! At least here, he can enjoy much of the famous library. I am sure that he will spend time getting acquainted with Celeborn and the brothers, as well.

Author Reply: Thank you so much. I'm delighted that you are enjoying this and it is something you have wondered about. I hope that Faramir and Elrond did find time to talk.

A sweet game to deal with grief and loss. I am glad all are here together, and for one another!

Author Reply: Thank you. I believe they are like one supportive family.

This is a sweet story. Aragorn is wise enough to remind Arwen to appreciate what they *have* and not just what they don't have.

Author Reply: Thank you so much. Aragorn is a wise man.

I, too, have loved looking at spider webs with the dew caught in them. Truly things of beauty.

So, Faramir is telling Aragorn about the quality of eggs in Imladris, is he? And who's been telling him of such things? Heh!

Author Reply: Many thanks for your much appreciated review. The webs are indeed beautiful. A good point about the eggs. I will fix it!

“I did not wish to waste a single moment of my visit here”

Neither would I! This is a very sweet moment between Faramir and Aragorn.

Author Reply: Thank you. I'm pleased you enjoyed this moment for Faramir and Aragorn.
