| Wonderful story! My husband and I were discussing today how glad we were that our parents never had the Elf on the Shelf and we certainly didn't get one to terrorize our own children. I agree that the concept is creepy. Your origin story makes sense to me. Author Reply: Thanks so very much! I have a hard time seeing Elf on the Shelf now without thinking of this story. One of my kids did abscond with my Lego Haldir and put him on the book case by the fireplace last night before cheerfully announcing that it was our Elf on the Shelf. I pointed out that he is a march warden so he really is a scout elf. My daughter's friend then explained that Haldir had been "reassigned"... | |
