my first review. how to begin? took a long time to come to elf academy. onci i realized it was the logical progression, i was hooked. fiomdil has created something here in ea 4 that has an amazing rhythm. om the one hand it is very quick but on the other hand, it is nicely but tantalizingly slow. bringing a picnic basket of salads and finger food to the cliff house to introduce myself.

And a lesson in how people change their environment over the centuries, and make trouble for Elves. ;-)

I look forward to their adventure in retrieving the artifact, and I find myself very curious about it!

Well, we are beginning to get to the meat of the story.

I'm still very sad about the destruction of Edhellond and the exodus from Wiseman; there was so much I'd like to know that remains there. And yet, I think it's going to be refreshing to leave it behind as the Elves have their non-Alaska adventures. I do hope we will get at least a few glimpses of Wiseman at some point, since it was so important to set the SCA up there, as well as some other things.

But it will be fascinating to see the Elves working outside of what had become a very cozy (perhaps too cozy) environment for them.

Thank you, one and all, for bringing this to us.

Author Reply: Thank you for reading and reviewing!

Obviously Irmo and Orome are working together on this. Now, to figure out how to get into the park when it is still closed. The tarped sections of the fence may be helpful.

This chapter was full of descriptions. I felt like I was reading a travel log, and I've read my share dating back into the 1700's. Not my favorite thing to read by now.

But onward with the plot and our intrepid heroes trecking into the wilds and listening to Gareth's tale of the White Hart. Um... Does anyone else feel like we're stepping in to Caerleon-on-Usk and the beginning of an Arthurian episode? Or perhaps The Mabinogi? I'm just hoping when this is all done that our Gwyn is not taking the road of Gwyn ap Nudd and housing all the devils of Annwfn in his breast!

The weaving of Fiondil's tapestry here is beautiful; he touches on so many things I dearly wish I could sit down to tea with him and discuss Olde Tales. :)

*Refills the goodie bin with freshly bakes whole grain 'nana bread and tins of tea leaves*

Now we're getting somewhere it seems (Upstate New York?). Watching Alex behave like a normal human male/father-to-be while at the same time still reverting to type - as in ex-spy *ahem* excuse me, Intelligence Agent - is both heartwarming and hilarious! Followed quickly by Felicity's "I'm pregnant, Loren, not dead," had me trying not to choke on my tea. LOL

Glorfindel's "time sense"... okay, who is tagging in to Glorfi's brain and what do they want? or is that how "someone" knows where people are going? *raises eyebrows. hmmmmmm*

Not much I can say or even think re: the artifact. What is it? Where is it? And why the heck did you bury it? *grins*

So many questions, and no clues or answers. Oh how this makes me miss Fiondil hanar. He was oh so good at little twists and turns.

Author Reply: Hi!

Nothing is as it seems, and especially in this last story of Arthur's. It's a bit of a rollercoaster with plenty of surprises in store, not the least of which will be the wibbly wobbly timey wimey stuff that's going on with Glorfindel. And no, he's not the next Time Lord!

Thank you very, very much for all your hard work on this.

I was, I'll admit it now, devastated to read that Fiondil had died. My reason is quite simple.

On the 1st July 2014, I discovered a large lump in my left breast. Yes, it was an aggressive breast cancer. For the next nine months my life was a maelstrom of scans, chemotherapy, operations, and radiotherapy.

One of the things that saved my sanity was reading Elf Academy. I would read another chapter and actually come away laughing, and this was at a very dark time in my life, so thanks, partly to Arthur, I'm still alive and kicking.

I've lost some things, such as my ability to write, but I can live with that. It might be like my hair, gone for a time but will return. It's just taking more time than I would like.

BTW: Please do not sympathise with me over the cancer. A very large group of friends on another board spent several months cursing the cancer and ordering it to leave my body. Please do the same for someone you know, who has cancer. Believe me, it works.

And recommend that they read 'Elf Academy'.

Hm, shades of Moon Runes and Durin's Day here.

And Glorfindel's times sense is still way off, I am starting to get a little concerned.

Grabs some snacks and goes back to knitting.

Well, that's an eye-opener and no mistake. So Orome led the ap Hywel brothers to High Falls Gorge, did he? To hide a Templar talisman...ah, and so their time as Templars mentioned in the Prologue begins to make its relevance known. I do wonder what, precisely, that talisman was...Hmm.

These pictures Atya painted for us were so vivid in my mind. Or as vivid as such things can be. Every time Lake Placid is mentioned, though, I can't help but shiver and think that things will go spectacularly wrong there. If there's a Balrog sleeping in Wild Lake, who's to say there's not another in Lake Placid...*shudder* Or that the two aren't connected somehow.

Thank you, our dear Beta Amigas, for posting this story, and giving us this new chapter. All the mention of trout fishing made a certain seagull hungry. :D

*Donut peeks over Kaylee's shoulder, then goes after a trout, meaning to catch it and bring it to MikoNoNyte* Mine!

*giggles* Well then. Anyway. I'm wondering whether next week will bring an interlude sometime in August, or whether we'll be heading right for full moon and talisman retrieval.

With love to Atto and to you, Beta Amiga nettenyar,

Kaylee

Glorfindel losing time has become even more obvious, magically appearing/disappearing impossible bridges, I'm starting to think I've wandered into another fandom with all the wibbley-wobbly, timely-wimey going on here. Yes, yes, I know. Spoilers! Sounds like our Alien Overlords are once again making reality their plaything (because what are time and space to the Timeless?). Things are getting very interesting indeed.

Please forgive the distinctly Whovian phrasing, I could not resist!
