Ever angst enslaves me when I envision the poor Numenorians whom he left behind. I am truly enjoying this. Thank you.

Author Reply: And thanks to you, too! Love your own alliteration here! Harrowcat has been keeping me in stitches with her examples!

Author Reply: (Although it was those of Sirion he left behind along with his sons when he sailed West only to find he could not return.) Ah, but one of his sons led the way in Numenor. Bless Elros. Too bad eventually silly thinking and the whispers of envy in their hearts led the Numenoreans to perceive what they thought to be eternal life to be more valuable than the gifts they received.

I always thought the listing of Dwarves that fell due to the Watcher should be told, along with dear Oin.

Author Reply: Oh, that would have been so excellent a topic! But I, too, grieved for the loss of Oin there.

Love the horns of the Rohirrim. And Cirdan.

PS. Spell check just loves these names. NOT.

Author Reply: Spell Check and I have a love-hate relationship. Bought a new Windows Ten computer, and shudder at having once again to teach Word to accept diacritical marks!

Oh, the first age is beleaguered by sorrow. I think there will be tears before this is over, though I sorely missed perhaps a footnote for Boromir.

Author Reply: There is one to him later on, you'll find. Thinking of which, I need to do my next chapter of In Empty Lands.

The mariner again! Very good!

I had completely forgotten that it was Earendil who slew Ungoliant. That makes him even more fascinating.

Author Reply: I love looking at other deeds of certain heroes who are always thought of in connection with one thing have done. Most people forget about Isildur's sacrifice to save the lineage of the White Tree and his work in helping to found the South Kingdom and his heroism in the War of the Last Alliance in light of his failure to resist the Ring once It came into his hand; while Earendil was always working to rid Middle Earth of terrors before his famous sail West.

I keep getting notices for this and finally forced myself to make the time to read It, as I love your writings. So I'll be wrapping presents till midnight Christmas Eve, it's already well worth it. What a treat.

Enjoyed the A lesson. Going on to B.

Author Reply: Oh, Enjoy, Agape. I hope you may add a few stories when the mood hits you!

We still grieve his absence, but rejoice for the time we were given with him.

That is the right way to deal with the loss. Time does not heal all wounds, but remembering the good times helps a lot.

Author Reply: I know. Thanks so very much!

Yuck...Ungoliant and her ilk are truly nasty creatures. I did not know that Earendil killed her, though. Learned something new! :-)

Author Reply: One of the little details my own quirky mind caught on in reading the Sil was that Earendil successfully sought out Ungoliant and slew her before he "tarried in Narverien."

Ah yes, Aragorn the Valiant! And a Lord with Vision, to be sure - as well as compassion, something Denethor didn't seem to have a grasp on! I'm so glad Aragorn allowed Pippin to stay with Beregond - that was, of course, very important!!

I need to look up Caer Andros and what happened there...But it's a good thing the Men who had not the heart to march to Mordor had a place to go!

Author Reply: As far as I remember, it was never told what happened to this impromptu mission to relieve the garrison on Caer Andros, but I so loved Aragorn for offering a viable alternative for those who could not withstand the terror of the thought of facing Mordor itself.

Utter despair and anguish, indeed! But Hope Unquenchable there was when Gil-Estel was set to sail the skies! (I'd forgotten that Earendil slew Ungoliant, actually, thank you for the reminder :) I think it's time for a re-read...now where did I put my Silm...*looks in dismay at rather cluttered bookshelf*)

Author Reply: This little fact has inspired a few stories on the subject I've written, including "Spider's Ambition."

As for my Sil--the printed format's on top of the bookshelf in my bedroom, and I have my e-book edition on the Nooks and my computers so I can take it with me!
