Lost and Found  by jenolas 33 Review(s)

So,then, he is likely not a man. I wonder if Thranduil will recall him?

I now have this wonderful picture of Legolas sitting casually on the bank, waiting to be rescued, knowing full well that he will be. Gimli will be so annoyed!

Author Reply: Yes, I can imagine that as well!

I like the similarities shown between Thranduil and Legolas - from looks and singing to the love of the trees. Thranduil may not like all Legolas' choices, but you make it clear he loved his son.

Hmmm........Legolas hears the call of the sea and meets a friend named Gull? And how did this person know he was the son of Thranduil? I think a mystery is at hand...

Author Reply: Very astute, but all will be revealed....eventually!

I like how you portray the tension between Thranduil, and Aragorn and Gimli. It seems Thranduil may come to respect Aragorn, but for some reason he will never even come to that point with Gimli!

A wonderful chapter. I love the way other elves appear to have accepted Aragorn and Gimli as well, and it sounds as though Aragorn was a fairly frequent visitor in Ithilien. Poor Tathar seems well used to both Gimli and Thranduil, albeit not together, - he certainly seems to know how to handle them both!

“A TREE! He has taken off on his own to speak with a TREE! I thought he had already met every tree in Middle Earth during our wanderings”. LOL – I enjoyed that! Wouldn’t you think he’d be used that particular “insane elf” by now...

I really like the way you’ve shown the similarities between Legolas and his father – the reaction to the pipeweed, the pleasure at discovering the tree, singing to the stars... It almost makes him more real to Legolas’ friends somehow, and harder for Gimli to dismiss him. *sigh* Would it be inappropriate to want to give Thranduil a hug right about now…?!;)

Author Reply: In answer to your question,Dot, no it would not be inappropriate, just get in the queue!

Thanks for your review, and I am pleased you are still enjoying the tale.

Lovely to find another chapter.

Nice to see how they all express their concerns in different ways, you have the characters spot on

Well done

Well, that was interesting. He obviously knows who Legolas is. Keep going, I'm interested in learning what is going on!

Author Reply: There is more yet to come, I hope you remain interested. Thanks for the feedback.

Hmmm.... now this was an interesting turn of events. I'm not sure what to make of them from a plot perspective. Very puzzling. Things seem a bit too coincidental for my peace of mind. An old man whose name means Gull, who speaks of the Firstborn and seems to know their way of healing; Legolas much farther down the river than it seems he ought to be, and THEN the old man knowing just who Legolas' father is! Admittedly Legolas gained some fame as one of the Nine Companions and later as the leader of the Elven colony in Ithilien. But even still ..... verrrry interesting indeed.

A nicely written puzzler, you've set before me, jenolas. I'm gonna have to do a lot of pondering on this one!

Author Reply: As I told Dot, all will be revealed eventually, but I might mention that the obvious answer to the puzzle is not always the right one... but you are welcome to keep guessing! I am glad you like the intrigue, it is quite fun to write! :)

He went in search of a tree? Hmm, Gimli will love that one when he finds out...!!

This is completely intriguing! I nearly fell off my chair at the last line. How does he know who Legolas is? Who is this Gwael? How did Legolas end up so far away? So many questions....*sigh* Seriously, this is great – really involving to the point where I’m waiting impatiently for more…:)

Author Reply: Ah Dot, I can always count on you to understand the subtleties... Gimli is indeed likely to comment unfavourably about the tree.

As for the rest, all will be revealed.... eventually.

Oh, poor Legolas! But at least he seems to be in safe hands. Who is the mysterious Gwael? I wonder if he is one of the Istari we never heard of? There were certainly more than three - and he knows who Legolas is.

The short-term memory loss is rather worrying, and if he had been washed downstream as far as the sea, it will take Aragorn and Gimli a long time to find their friend. I hope you update soon!

Author Reply: You will have to wait and see, Jay! Glad you are enjoying the intrigue so far.
