Oh, but I'd all but forgotten these men! I rejoice that you bring them to our general awareness now. And I love how they are cautioned not to kneel, but are allowed to bow. Heh! Yes, I can see this caution being given.

Author Reply: The Professor gives us so many of these tiny moments and events that we can expand and enjoy. Bless him!

Excellent start! I can't wait to read the rest.

Author Reply: Glad to hear it! I'm so happy to be immersed in hobbits once again. :)

Oh what fun! I love seeing the hobbits through fresh eyes--this will be nice!

Author Reply: *beams* Thank you! I love that as well.

I love this. It show us beautifully what a wise and wonderful king Aragorn is going to be.

Author Reply: Aragorn truly was a superior man who was nevertheless humble and grateful for what had been achieved. I love writing about him, especially when he's interacting with the hobbits. Thank you so much for reading! :)

Oh! Such rich ground for gap-fillers and imagination!

I love the humility expressed by these two, their dedication to duty, their motivation grounded in the homes and families they left behind them when they came out to do hopeless battle, and went on to do what they could to cleanse the land before returning.

It seems as if they, too, might be done great honor, though they would protest and never understand how doing what they perceived as the right thing to do might win them such honor.

Author Reply: Thank you. And hooray for the opportunity for gap-fillers! The Fellowship spent many weeks in Cormallen, and the Professor only hinted at what happened there. What a joy to be able to 'fill in the corners' here and there.

"They went on to do what they could"... my definition of a hero, and no mistake.

I love this - “If in generations to come it is remembered that even small, frightened, and vulnerable beings could survive such a journey and the hardships they endured, perhaps it will be understood that any road can be walked and any goal is worthy of attempt, if one pledges to be steadfast." Such inspiration these give! Looking forward to more.

Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author Reply: I'm so happy you like that observation. Hobbits are infinitely inspiring to me.
